Wednesday, October 19, 2011 7:24:31 PM Complain about his uniform or lack thereof BUT he did swear an oath to uphold and defend The Constitution (Not the country, not the president and not the people) of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. He just honored that oath. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 9:27:58 PM Sam, you need ot understand how people perceive things, without that jacket, this man loses a good portion of his credibility. Without knowing any of his "accomplishments" you hear that he was at least an E5 in the military, anyone that isn't up to par on military structure "knows" the rank. And knows that a great deal of respect comes from it, usually. Now, would his impact have been as much had he walked up, and said I'm a vet of the Iraq war, this is what I think. * in civilian clothing. As I stated earlier, I find everything he said to be untrue, I've been asking for a good, unbiased video that shows the "peaceful protesters" conducting business that caused the police to show up. Then I may believe the supposed brutality angle. Though when its 1-2 cops vs a mob, a quick takedown is better than a slow struggle for mob mentality. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 7:43:46 PM What he was saying to the cops- there is no honor in attacking peaceful protesters in a capacity of an officer whose sole purpose is to serve and protect a peaceful citizen. Put things in perspective for the police. You could see it in their eyes. That military jacket he wore with medals was absolutely the right choice. Good man. W |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 7:42:28 PM omg you people that are griping about his uniform. just listen to his words its little crap like that that gets the whole picture out of whack. just like when "liberals" and "conservatives" start griping about each other and let the real problems continue because they can't figure out that we are all the same.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 5:52:16 PM "He's not trying to cast of being the ultimate authority on violence and disorder" Who's saying that exactly? Most service members are complaining about his uniform, while the other are complaining about his repetition. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 4:32:50 PM ...are you guys serious? He's not trying to cast of being the ultimate authority on violence and disorder, he's a pissed off vet that came home from protecting and serving his country only to find out that the police here are as terroristic as the people he fought abroad. I applaud this man for taking a stand for the rights he risked his life to uphold. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 2:31:30 PM That's how you feel. That's how I feel, but when I say he's not a voice for the Corps, what I'm saying is he knows he's not that voice. As he pointed out, he's in the uniform as a "voice for the vets" and truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised if more vets (at least in NY) took interest in the whole OWS thing if for no other reason than to tell this guy to stop wearing that uniform in the manner he's wearing it. He makes numerous solid points. There's a reason I don't respect cops, and a lot of it has to do with the fact that those who aren't vets themselves are generally vaginas as this guy is trying to explain in nicer terms. I see no reason to disrespect this guy on any point beyond the fact that he insists on wearing the US Marine patch. All the rest of it is perfectly acceptable for a civilian as far as I'm aware. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 2:15:23 PM Eh, it's why I was wondering on the USMC recruiter regs, usually the army never puts someone to it UNLESS they have 2-3+years or are indef. But I do agree that this guy is a terrible excuse for a marine corp NCO, former or current. I was an E5 in the Army for 3 years until I got out from injury, but have never felt the need to use it to establish myself as someone of credibility. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 2:05:23 PM @Mastr This is not the case. This guy was a 4 or 5 year marine. Boot camp + training could easily account for 8-16 months depending on the MOS. 3 years at one command "sea service" as a deployable member. Then he switched to "shore service" where he separated. There are no qualms with sending someone to a recruiting station for only four months when it's clear he's not reenlisting. The improper use of his chevrons and ribbons are almost certainly there to separate his uniform from a legitimate active duty US Marine. Honestly, I suspect he maintains the beard and opened blouse just to reaffirm that point. He's NOT a voice for the Corps. That said, the US Marines patch REALLY shouldn't be there. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 11:05:05 AM @splurby Not up to date on my USMC recruiting regs, but I'm pretty sure y'all do more than 4 months as recruiters. So to be booted that quickly either means he sucked at his job, or did something to warrant getting kicked. *Since US Army recruiters generally do 2-3 year recruiting stints* The one sided occupy posts need to stop, currently the only posts are look at what the police did AFTER they showed up. Let's see the bank footage of what the people did to cause the police show up. |

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 9:54:05 AM As a current Marine of 15 years I have a few things to say about this guy... and some questions. I don't know him or his background; and I don't even have a personal problem with what he says. However, to wear that particular article of uniform in the manner that he is wearing it, is a disgrace. Also the portrayal of his rank and ribbons in the manner shown, in the wrong place and even on the wrong uniform is also kind of disgraceful. I hope he is not currently in the Corps or he would be in some serious trouble. (Doubt he is anways) I am willing to bet that if we looked into his background, he may have gotten in trouble or couldn't get promoted. If he got out with an honorable discharge, he could have worn a real dress uniform and portrayed himself apporpriately without being in conflict of interest. |
