Wednesday, October 19, 2011 7:56:50 PM In public, there are cameras at every stoplight, at the ATM, In just about every store into which I go. If I have no expectation of privacy in public, guess what? If you aren't objecting to the dashcam or appearing on the TV Show Cops, my cellphone cam will continue to roll baby roll. |

The 2 person rule sounds like a good idea, but I don't think anyone has the right to privacy when out in public. Why is my cell phone video illegal but security cameras on the street are legal? And what about in my home? If I set up a nanny cam I don't have the baby-sitters permission, it would defeat the purpose. It's a muddle. I am a major supporter of our privacy rights, but also of my freedom to do what the hell I want in my own home. I thinkonly the Gov'ment should be required to notify you if you are being recorded or to get warrents to do it secretly. |

Monday, October 17, 2011 8:11:25 AM In many ways the 2 person rule protects people from pervs and such, but the police should not be protected by that law, nor should any other state, local, or government official. |

Monday, October 17, 2011 7:35:54 AM This can all be solved in a very simple manner that should be satisfactory to all parties. You can't film an arrest that you are not involved with inside a 50 ft area. Basically, it is your right to film, but you can't interfere with the scene. Secondly, once you open your mouth then you are interfering. Basically keep your mouth shut and don't bother someone involved in a stressful, potential violent, encounter. If you are involved, such as it is you being pulled over or arrested, then simply make the statement, "I am going to record you, do you have a problem with that?" If they do and order you to stop recording then they shouldn't be allowed to admit any video they record into court (dash-cam videos, security cams, ATM videos, etc). Basically, they don't want to be recorded and therefore they don't have the right to record you. But just like in politics, neither side wants to compromise. |

Monday, October 17, 2011 7:05:43 AM Most of the times the persons being arrested are pissing the cops off trying to prove that they can be pissed off. It's stupid, film them, STFU and stay out of their way. They are no different than any other emergency worker in that sense. All for the filming part, just not for the harassing them while they are just doing their jobs part. |

Monday, October 17, 2011 3:23:21 AM >first few seconds, "they can arrest you, they can shoot you!" uhhh... yeah at will they can just arrest and shoot you. I hate the news It does happen and the police have shot people without cause, look it up. In Chicago cops got arrested for torturing suspects. If you watch the end of the video you will see an officer knock someone off a bicycle and arresting them. |

Monday, October 17, 2011 1:15:59 AM Um mervviscious, what are you talking about? His entire campaign is (and has been, over the better part of two decades) against government intervention in the free market and overextension of executive authority on every level! Do you even watch the show? |

Sunday, October 16, 2011 9:31:00 PM Gerry1of1: "if it is in fact illegal to record them as the police maintain, then the evidence idea you suggest is tainted-evidence and cannot be used." Nevertheless, if it goes up on youtube and becomes public scandal that the policec are in fact in the wrong, there will be great public pressure to drop the case and prosecute/discipline the officer. |

Sunday, October 16, 2011 6:48:43 PM Klamz- Either that or they don't want any record of something that happened. Sure it could be because the person taking the film might share it out of context. (The person I just tackled onto the sidewalk was filmed, the part where they broke a beer bottle on my partner's head was missed.) But then, maybe he just wanted to watch and laugh while some guy got tazed. |

Klamz "Why would a cop just take your phone. They wouldn't. Don't do things that people don't like, whether it's legal or illegal if you're not prepared to accept how they might react, whether illegal or legal." I appologize for not being more clear. Let me put it in terms you can understand. Baa baa baa baa-baa baa baaaaaa !

Sunday, October 16, 2011 5:05:36 PM I'm usually for the cops, but I see nothing wrong in recording them. Hopefully it will help to pull out the bad apples and safeguard the real law abiding cops out there. |
