Wednesday, October 12, 2011 8:09:19 AM Is it ok that I don't know who either of these people are? When I hear pulitzer prize winning reporter and author I immediately think self-promoter attention whore look what I can do buy my book if there's action somewhere I'll be there trying to leech off of it. The one guys says the protesters don't even know the names of the firms they are protesting and the other dude says they know bank of america. LOL They don't know what they want. And further more they have let anyone that has any kind of grievance with the government into their rally because they wanted more warm bodies to count and have ended up with chaos.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 11:06:41 PM I knew I could count on the I-A-B community to take this "beatdown" headline with the usual grain of salt and zero in on some of the willful ignorance and hypocrisy of this guest (admitting, of course, the knee-jerk rudeness and unprofessionalism of his host). One thing I'd like to add has to do with Hedges' statement about the imminent crises in Greece, Spain and elsewhere. It's more significantly the consequence of corporate and international socialism than 'unbridled capitalism,' ala Marx. To expand upon some of the sentiments expressed by Oldfrt, Mal_bb and "Fart Smeller" (geeze, not the most honorable of usernames I've cited), there wouldn't BE an imminent collapse if we let toxic assets PERISH UNDER THE IMMUNE SYSTEM OF THE MARKET PROCESS. Countries bailing out other countries that suck is no more fruitful than governments bailing out financial institutions which suck. They're also sitting on those assets so they don't flood the market with EASY CREDIT again. |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 9:19:28 PM Another great example of a conservative reduced to name calling rather than having a dignified and respectful discussion. When people are verbally assaulted for calmly expressing their opinion that is called bullying, and it is becoming the norm thanks to the right wing media, right wing politicians and right wing supporters. |

I don't blame banks or corporations. They were given an opportunity to make profits and they did. That IS the purpose of their existance. I blame politicians who shold us down the river to povertyville. |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 4:44:40 PM @ Beternal "Can someone summarise all this for me?" Sure, it's about a)a bunch of people saying 'hey, the banks have screwed us over for long enough' b) the banks saying 'hey, we're all in this together.... cept the bonuses we're still paying out....... to us. c) the government saying 'hey we agree with you peeps... but not really specifying which peeps they agree with and secretly wishing they could tax protesting. d) the lucky people with good jobs telling everyone else that only drugged up hippies protest. and e) the people who claim it'll never change things..... right until things change, and then at that point they'll claim they were at the vanguard of the movement all along. |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 4:33:28 PM He is a leftist nutbar. What he complains about is exactly what you'd expect from the power he has given government. The power to hand over trillions of tax dollars to market losers. Thank you leftist nutbars. Don't call your mega-government with tentacles in everything "deregulation" please. |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 3:30:55 PM The government encouraged sub prime mortgage lending in the first place to sell the American dream in return for votes at the next election. Tony Bair did near enough the same thing here; spent a ton of money he didn't have to temporally improve peoples standard of living , then after he'd done enough networking he buggered off and left the mess with Brown. The banks were just greedy middle men who worked with the government to make it happen. The government should take ultimate responsibility. |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 3:29:39 PM "CBC is a Canadian gov't owned channel...nuff' said." Yet it's still the newstation with the most objective reporting I've seen. CBC radio is a standard for me on my commute home, they allow both sides of the story to be told and let you make the judgement (O'Leary and a couple others not included, those kinds of people can't be avoided unfortunately). |

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 3:21:49 PM The nut bar stated his real position when he said: "sub prime mortgages were pushed on people who couldn't afford it". Those people were offered a deal and they took it, which our government made happen through moronic banking regulations. Occupy wall street is f'n hilarious and ineffective. |
