No matter what side you're taking here, I think we can all agree. That hat is f*cking ridiculous.

I am all for protest and agree that most people are being shafted, but what do they want? What are the practical goals that are supposed to be achieved by this protest? "End corporate greed" seems a slogan without a practical solution.

@kineo - While I agree with this guy's general sentiment, I find a lot of what he said to be bumper sticker crap and some of it completely wrong... And yeah it's an opinion. Just because I'm not going to sit here and write an f'in dissertation about it doesn't mean I have no foundation for my opinion.

Who cares what their demands are if their message is correct. Why should the rich be coddled? We've lived with trickle down economics since the Reagan administration and it's not working. In fact it's never worked. Reagan was right. The rich should not be paying a lesser tax rate than the middle class. Afterall we need to afford the people who are a financial drain on the system.

markust: The people that run 'occupywallst.org' do claim to be the organizers, at least of the NYC based protests, and as I typed earlier their list of demands was originally a 'NEWS POST' on their website.

I'm guessing that you clicked the link without even reading my post first, that's about par for the course with you.

"Hard labor for low pay is better than no job at all, people need to get over it."
Not always. I know people who choose to not get a job [instead try to sell crafts they've made online or something] because the best they could get would only pay them enough to pay for their children being in daycare. So which is better? Working your ass off to pay for your children's daycare, or stay at home with your children so you don't have to pay for daycare in the first place? Situations aren't always black and white, and if the pay is too little then it's not always worth it considering the extra expenses that come with having a job.

Also the protests aren't in any way about people wanting more money for working less. Quite a bit of the protests are about corporations buying politicians and etc. I'd go into more detail but I have to get going.

Uggh...I came here because I AM BORED and this video just made me even MORE bored! I wanted to see him "School" Fox News and all I saw was some fat guy droning on BLAH BLAH BLAH! Tried to skip ahead and actually get to the "Schooling" and it was just "Blah Blah Blah i'm fat and passionate about a cause." Lame.

This should be interesting to follow for anyone here...

I'm usually pretty far left, but I just face-palm over these protests. People just want more pay to do less work. And honestly, I think there are jobs available, it's just that they are typically jobs that students or the uneducated pick up, and people who can't get jobs in the fields their degrees are in think they're too good for them. Hard labor for low pay is better than no job at all, people need to get over it.

CrakrJak, The site you link to is not an official site. There is no official site. There are a bunch of sites. This just happens to be one of the bigger ones. And this set of demands was from one person - on a forum. A forum you idiot.

markust: The original list of 13 demands came from their own website. But as of yesterday they've added a disclaimer at the top that says, "This is not an official list of demands....There is NO official list of demands."

I'm guessing they got a lot of blowback from their ridiculous 'proposed' list and now want to distance themselves from it. Original List

It's understandable that this so called 'organization' may be so fractious that it's struggling to find an identity beyond the usual anti-capitalist rhetoric.

It's good to note one lie in their disclaimer, The list was NOT a forum post originally, it was a news post and has since been moved to their forum, which means someone within the organization leadership or their web team posted it originally.

To bank on such a degree to get you by is foolish. I was under the impression that it was common knowledge that most who pursue such a career won't make it and to have a fallback. There is nothing wrong with chasing your dream but you must be prepared to take responsibility for the choices you make.

Calico, I agree but I believe he meant useless in the real job market. To be honest fine arts should be something people take if they haven't the need for a real career or already have one. These people who get a degree in minority womens studies for 150,000 dollars which has little marketability in the job world and then complain because no one will hire them is just stupid. For one thing they took the debt willingly and if they didn't know that that degree wouldn't land them a job perhaps they should have checked before taking on the debt. Don't get me wrong, counting inflation etc. up from the past we should be at 16 an hour minimum wages to have the same quality of life people had in the 60's and 70's so we are definitely getting drated and the Fed and fractional Banking and Lending is at the heart of it. All the same, I am the 94% and the 5% of hipsters pissed they have to pay their bills for degrees employers don't need or want don't represent me!

"Stupid Liberal Arts Majors"? With that line of thinking, there would be no arts, no thinkers or philosophers, no entertainers, just a society of drones, all goose-stepping to the same drummer.

Moveon.org is the Leftist equivalent of the Westboro Babtist Church just with more money. Anyone who gives those clowns an ounce of credibility is a moron.

"That's why they list, as part of their demands on their website, that there be a $20 minimum wage and that they get that 'wage' even if they are unemployed."

scapegoat: These are mostly just a bunch of upset student socialists that hate capitalism, they've not yet had to live out in the 'real world'.

The real world is dominated by the capitalist 'boogeymen', in their eyes, and they afraid they'll have to work at Wal-Mart or Home Depot after they graduate with a useless liberal arts degree.

In other words they're afraid they might actually have to do some HARD WORK for a living. That's why they list, as part of their demands on their website, that there be a $20 minimum wage and that they get that 'wage' even if they are unemployed.

"Also, EVERY media outlet is biased, you don't think CNN and every other political commentary channel don't set people up with questions?"

True but CCN at leasts tries to follow the standards of journalism. They are respected around the world. Channels like Fox News and MSNBC are just pure sensationalism.

talk about working until you die to pay off debt, what about the debt Obama has piled on? This guy being at protests all the time, making a spectacle suggests he may not have a job to pay those taxes. Also, EVERY media outlet is biased, you don't think CNN and every other political commentary channel don't set people up with questions?
