the FBI. all these things TERRIFY us into submissive obedience. the REAL terrorists are the politicians, the corporations, and the law enforcment officers that hover above us with an iron fist, making sure we're in check.

@CrakrJak: Just cause an FBI report says, he was "actively training terrorists", does not mean it is true. Though, what I would assume from it, is that he WAS, in fact, too informed, and possibly planning an actually effective way, to counter the terror and oppression that the US government and those who control it (most of them not even being government officials) spreads amongst the american people. So what they had to do is get him out of the picture, and to do so, they were able to apprehend and arrest him, legally, not constitutionally, but legally, under the Patriot Act that was put into effect by Dub'Ya and took away many of our constituntional rights, making claims that was a "terrorist" and that was supposed to make it okay for them to do all this and the people are conditioned to just turn their heads because we're afraid of the BIG BAD TERRORISTS. but who are the real terrorist here? we're afraid of speeding tickets, we're afraid of credit debt, of law-s

He's preaching, not asking.

Nevertheless, I guess one day members in the Obama administration ought to answer for extra-judicial killings and other crimes against humanity.

Only they won't, because many believe they have to do some things that break the law in the interests of the nation, yet the nation can't place them above the law.

So the plebs gnash and grind their teeth and mumble 'constitution' under their breath and leave the patricians to rule over them.

Scuzoid: I'm not 'indifferent' when it comes to the constitution, Awalki was actively training terrorist, according to an FBI report released today, and, I believe, lost his citizenship rights when he started actively taking part in Al-Qaeda's war on the US.

But if liberals, like madest, want to impeach Obama for this, I say go right ahead. Obama's other lies and actions more than deserve that indictment.

You acknowledge what should've happened with Fonda, but claim indifference for what shouldn't happen based on the constitution.

That's fine, you're allowed to disagree with the constitution. Today.

That said, her threat to national security was practically rewarded in her time. Ted Kaczynski got his day in court and actually managed to avoid the death penalty in his time. Anwar was blown the frack up for convincing kids killing themselves in a fight against America is a brilliant way to die in his time. How long do you expect it to take before merely disagreeing with "Executive law" is a public offense?

PTPete: I wouldn't have shed a tear over Jane Fonda had a bomb from a B-52 dropped on her. She gave aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war, she should've been arrested and tried the minute she set foot back in the US.

How angry would any of you had been if Jane Fonda had been blown away while rubbing elbows with the enemy during the Vietnam conflict?

madest: Our government lies as a whole...

People lie, not the system. The system can and does work.

Contradicting yourself again, as usual.

...there should be an investigation. Is what Obama did constitutional? If not, impeach his ass.

Obama's track record indicates he'll throw people under the bus to save his own ass, Eric Holder is next in line for that.

It's when people circumvent the system for political expediency and pretend like the people who question their actions are somehow crazy. This is a constitutional question and there should be an investigation

Unfortunately, the system relies on those very same people, and thus it is flawed.

I'd just like to point out that Ronald Reagan enacted executive order 12333. Sec 2.11 reads:
"No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination."

So didn't Obama actually break the law?

No CJ, That's a ridiculous leap of faith. People lie, not the system. The system can and does work. It's when people circumvent the system for political expediency and pretend like the people who question their actions are somehow crazy. This is a constitutional question and there should be an investigation. Is what Obama did constitutional? If not, impeach his ass.

Seneca: George Washington's rebuke of traitors, "I do most earnestly enjoin you to bring him to such severe and exemplary punishment as the enormity of the crime may require. Should it extend to death itself, it will not be disproportional to its guilt at such a time and in such a cause… for by such conduct they bring shame, disgrace and ruin to themselves and their country.”

madest: Yup, the government lies, and you want more of it in our lives, like Obamacare, higher taxes, and more regulations on business.

It seems that you would finally realize that government isn't the answer and that the less of it there was the better off we'd be.

Covering loss of nationality: United States Code: Title 8 Section 1481, 7: "...committing any act of treason against, or attempting by force to overthrow, or bearing arms against, the United States, violating or conspiring to violate any of the provisions of section 2383 of title 18, or willfully performing any act in violation of section 2385 of title 18, or violating section 2384 of title 18 by engaging in a conspiracy to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, if and when he is convicted thereof by a court martial or by a court of competent jurisdiction." In this case do you have to be present to be convicted in this scenario?

Would it be so surprising if you found that Alwaki was not involved in terrorism at all? The truth will come out eventually and nobody will be surprised. Our government lies as a whole, they lie as individuals. They lie to each other and they lie to us. We went to war based on lies. Why wouldn't we accept the assassination of an American citizen because of lies?

Our Attorney General lied to Congress about what he knew and when he knew it and he's the chief law enforcement officer in the country! The system is based on lies and as a result, we lie to ourselves when we believe them.

madest: You know what, I think you just convinced me.

Let's impeach Obama now, because he killed Awalaki.

As if his lies, cronyism, and ineptitude wasn't reason enough already.

I do feel that Congress is neglecting it's Constitutional duty to convey trials in matters of treason. If Congress had convicted Anwar al-Awlak of treason in absentia it would not have put the President in a questionable position. Anwar al-Awlaki did a really good job declaring himself a enemy of the United States in his own words. The President did his duty in this matter. We are not fighting a battle restricted to a traditional battleground nor a sovereign nation but, an organization bent on the genocide of the American people as well as anyone who disagrees with there way of life.

I'm loving this discussion. Right is Left and Left is Right. I hope it is a sign that people are breaking free from the partisan shackles of opinion media and 24 hour news.

"Make another martyr for the terrorists?"

Is English not your first language, or do you simply not care what the meaning of martyr is?

I think Obama did the right thing and given the chance should repeat it. What good would it do to bring him to court? Make another martyr for the terrorists?

When Michael Savage says killing an american terrorist without due process is a third world act, "conservative republicans" need to rethink the constitution.

Where was the Timothy McVay assassination? The Ted Kaczynski assassination? They didn't happen because those would be acts of a fracking dictator.
