Tuesday, October 04, 2011 3:06:27 AM The second wave was caused by stock fluctuations due to French banks crumbling under Spanish, Italian, and Greek dept, and the weakening position of the Euro as a mass currency. Simply pointing your fingers to either side and saying "they did it!" I think is obviously biased. No one is winning now, neither CEO or joe-shmo. I think the protesters have good hearts, but mearly shouting I'm angry doesn't really help, I don't think anyone assumed that people like to lose money and power, and if their was a switch to change everything, it would have already been switched. I know I'm going on and on, but lastly I think its a mistake to assume that if you just tell the rich to give over their money in taxes, that they just will. These are usually heads of global firms and will simply relocate rather than taking a loss. We should all move very carefully, rationally, and avoid meaningless bravado. Remember, china's housing bubble hasn't popped yet. |

Tuesday, October 04, 2011 2:30:18 AM Perhaps I just don't know what I am talking about, but I believe (given what I've seen and read) that the american housing bubble was the initiating event that created the current world economic climate. Yet it was a combination of "Predatory Lending" and average people just not reading or caring about the fine print. I don't think that the banks are innocent, dept has become a blossoming market, a dept collection agency can collect a dept add a percentage and make a profit, if the person can't pay they simply pass the dept off to another. But on the other hand people should have made a concerted effort to read what they were signing their name to. I agree it's a pain in the ass but if your buying a house, do your homework. The rich bitches only became a concern when the government began supplementing different industries with federal monies. I really don't see how they caused the the problem unless the are the heads of banks or credit cards. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 2:48:38 PM @Pipe.. This is the East.. You don't think our government isn't ready for this? They are probably just ignoring this and going on with life while we think we are "doing something".. Lets skip most of how this "social revolution" talk and jump to what would probably happen.. Marshal Law maybe? Military Occupation of the streets? Making already unjust laws stronger? We are a little late, our government is already to powerful and most of our nation are sheep.. Ahhh I yawn at this. I know the "truth" and "woke up" many years ago... Then I woke up again and said "we are fuc***". Keep it real man, the outcome for Americans doing this is not in our favor.. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 2:33:19 PM Indeed this is all about greed. Wall Street was rolling in dough during the housing bubble. They got used to outsized profits and salaries. CEO pay soared during that time (and is still soaring). They destroyed the worlds economy, gave themselves bonus's with our bailout money and aren't willing to cut back themselves like rest of the nation had to. This is their reckoning, this protest is working and I'm confidant there will be change. Dennis Kucinich has an idea. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 2:19:52 PM The problem is that you are tryng to resume all this protest inside words "hipster", "hippies","scum" or wathever you want. Have you asked yourself cause you need to put a brand on it? The answer is...cause you are freakening fearing what you don't know. You are just tryng to resume this situation in something you think affordable, the problem is that this movement will go forward with or without your pathetic label. This movement is a melting pot of cultures and styles, you can't say is just made of hipsters, they are just a part of it. If you are not an idiot blind and you try to look more carefully at this situation you will see that inside protester you can find also your neighbour or your jobmate. This is a social revolution in blossom guys, don't be idiots on your rants against it, you are just showing your weakness. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 2:11:36 PM Corporate America doesn't give a poo about your protesting. The fact that you ate monopoly money and got arrested isn't going to make them think twice about anything other than how annoying Americans can be. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 2:07:31 PM Hipsters are turning into the protesting hippies of yesteryear. They're our generations radical movement, trying to fight political injustices. And Zombie make up is totally applicable here given the popularity of Romero's critique on capitalism, not some played out fad. |

Monday, October 03, 2011 1:21:37 PM "real problem in this country" But these protesters are children with too much time on their hands. I am still waiting for what they want. Right now all I hear is the same sound my child made at 6 months old. |
