Wednesday, September 28, 2011 5:19:54 PM we call it an Airfoil here. but that doesnt matter. language differences. but the Kf airfoil (short for Kline Fogleman airfoil) i think still holds the record for longest thrown distance of a paper airplane. maybe that has changed. but the kf airfoil is one of the most simple to make and it create massive amounts of lift. i use them on all my Rc airplanes i make. |

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 3:29:17 PM "Wait we have to name our planes......... Ok, I'm just going to call mine paper airplane" The guy actually thought it would be a good idea to name the planes, and not bother to come up with ANYTHING despite being the last one to name his plane? Why bother if you're not gonna bother? |

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 2:44:25 PM "He's an aeronautical genius!" No, making the traditional pointy plane basically creates a dart, which creates little to no lift. Making the one he makes creates a large border at the leaning edge, with thinner surface behind it, thus creating what is called an "aerofoil" which is the principle behind what makes wings fly. His plane didn't have any pushing force to maintain the little litf created, however, it did reduce the falling speed to something much less than the traditional one. The Guiness World Record for a paper airplane was created with an even simpler model. Take a piece of paper, put it sideways, fold one edge 3 times over itself about the width of your thumb, fold a V in the middle, and voila, simplest and most efficient model (So i've read, my success with that model was minimal) |

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 1:22:40 PM One of these days somebody will do something like that on camera and instead of reaking out and asking if the camera that was filming "DID YOU GET THAT?!," he'll nonchalantly look at the camera and say, "I told you so." |
