Monday, September 26, 2011 11:50:05 AM @Johanvb: this is iab not Med Bio World. just go with it. plus there should be a tool bar on your browser that will link you to some sort of search engine. if you really want to know the truth i think it could be discovered as fast as it took you to write that response. |

Sunday, September 25, 2011 8:16:12 AM And what is the source of this research? All i see now are two images side by side where one vaguely resembles the other. So how do i know that Turnshroud didn't link to his failed multimedia high school project?

Saturday, September 24, 2011 10:37:01 PM This is pretty amazing. I like how some pictures have words outlining/overlaying them; and how people change halfway through, like the person suddenly thought of someone else. Seriously amazing stuff. |

Saturday, September 24, 2011 3:10:02 PM It's recording brain activity, not direct visuals. If you were watching a wartime historical documentary of the Revolutionary War, but images of Vietnam went through your head, THAT'S what it's recording. Aka, your daydreams. Your mental images. Your visualizations. |

Friday, September 23, 2011 6:42:33 PM Yea it's not a hoax. They use fMRI to read brain activity while showing people images, repeat a bunch of times to get a database of activity levels. Then given a new image they try to match the brain activity to the database. So vision is encoded a certain way, sent to different areas of the brain and then decoded. They are trying to decode the info....it's actually pretty cool. |

Friday, September 23, 2011 6:30:44 PM "obtained using only each subject's brain activity and a library of 18 million seconds of random YouTube video. (In brief, the algorithm processes each of the 18 million clips through the brain model, and identifies the clips that would have produced brain activity as similar to the measured brain activity as possible. The clips used to fit the model, those used to test the model and those used to reconstruct the stimulus were entirely separate.) Brain activity was sampled every one second, and each one-second section of the viewed movie was reconstructed separately." If it's some kind of hoax, they did their homework. Either way, neat idea! |
