Sunday, September 25, 2011 8:56:51 AM "And how did you write a script to find 20+ links a day? Or to filter the good, entertaining user submissions from the bad?" almightybob1, it was community driven. Anyone could submit links that would be "on hold" until a moderator reviewed and approved them (or or simply removed them). The thumbnails for both pics and videos would be generated automatically upon submission (I only made the auto-thumb script for youtube, supporting youtube.com and youtu.be, which is easy)) and stored in the server. Additionally, in the admin panel, one could set "approved" users so that their links would be auto-approved upon submission. It was a fun little project. :) As far as I remember, I've left some stuff (such as ad management though) somewhat unfinished, since I got myself bored in the process LOL. |

Saturday, September 24, 2011 11:03:50 PM Firefox + noscript here. Never seen the need for adblock really, noscript seems to do the same thing and more. |

Saturday, September 24, 2011 7:56:00 PM Dawn... Good riddance!! If you're too stupid to go find a block addon for all the garbage ads, you really are not making this a better site. You're an idiot and no one will miss you.

Friday, September 23, 2011 1:31:54 PM Why winge. Get educated. Dont people understand that there are programs that block ads so we dont actually see them. I dont see the ads, IAB gets the money for the ads. Everyone wins! |

Friday, September 23, 2011 9:16:46 AM Ah, so if I hear any annoying ads or see crazy blinky things, I'll know to both notify Fancy and to update my ad-blockers. This is really cool to know. It's also why I like I-a-b so damn much. |

Friday, September 23, 2011 6:32:46 AM He. Davy said he was one of the Bored. And, for all intents and purposes, also on the Board. I am so easily entertained (without any factual basis for my humour's focus). |

Friday, September 23, 2011 3:00:41 AM It would have taken less time for her to research the adblock plugin and install it than it would to write a pissy email.

Thursday, September 22, 2011 11:24:09 PM wait wait wait wait...so someone actually works on this site as a full time job...seriously? it takes 10 hours a day to maintain this page? seriously? I don't not believe it...but it seems kind of out there at the same time You'd be amazed at the amount of time and effort it takes. Apart from Fancy (who earns a salary), the rest of us funky multicoloured names do this for free, out of love. Because we're one of the Bored. |

I've made a better looking PHP replica of IAB as a side project just for fun and tested it for a couple of weeks with some friends. (It is not online). It's a community driven website for god's sake. Just put it online and let it be. Adblock+ it is for me! |

Thursday, September 22, 2011 9:17:10 PM I never noticed the ads until I accessed the site on a different computer... It was crazy! Maybe if everybody turned off their adblock for this site, we wouldn't have to do the zany ads just to stay afloat... but until the zany ads go, adblock stays... |

Thursday, September 22, 2011 8:57:51 PM I guess there is indeed many things adblock does for me that I'm not even aware of anymore. Which raises the question, who's paying for all of this dung? |

Thursday, September 22, 2011 7:50:40 PM Add NoScript to that list. I honestly didn't know there were any annoyances on I-A-B until one day, on a whim, I turned off AdBlock+ and NoScript. "Two things will stop the ads dead in their tracks. Firefox and Ad Block Plus. (Sorry Fancy)" |
