@carmium It kind of is loss of habitat. With increased temperatures, the ice flows don't last as long, which is where the polar bear's hunt. Without the stability of the ice, the bears must go landward more often.
The situation in some places is getting so bad that polar bears, who are excellent swimmers, are drowning whilst trying to swim to stable ice.
We will see much more of this. |

Loss of habitat is not exactly a threat in the north. Take a GoogleEarth cruise if you don't believe it. Bears go where there is food, and people are on their menu as they have been since humans arrived there. |
