Tuesday, September 06, 2011 7:04:00 PM I am a cosmetic surgeon working with many cosmetic lasers everyday. For me the setup was quite simple: one balloon was inserted in a bigger balloon, filled with water, then the bigger one was blown, and both were tied. As for the laser, the particular laser used was of a wavelength that would be absorbed by water, not the balloons. The water would then boil and explode. |

Monday, September 05, 2011 10:16:06 PM Yes, why would the big balloon "jump up" when the water balloon inside it, pulling it downwards, burst? I wonder... |

Monday, September 05, 2011 3:05:58 PM @apedrana, I used a similar technique as I explain here in this related video. With a water balloon you've got to introduce it into the bigger balloon and then take the combination to the sink and carefully fill up the water balloon such that no water gets into the bigger balloon (which makes the bigger balloon look cloudy on video). It took about 20-30 attempts before I got it right and recorded the laser popping right. |

Monday, September 05, 2011 2:46:20 PM @RobSwindol, it might help if you actually read previous comments before making a new one. "laser dick", I'll have to remember that one. |

Monday, September 05, 2011 2:40:15 PM "Why would the big baloon jump up like that" Since this guy obviously isn't Mr. Wizzard, I'll explain it. The heavy water ballon is attached to the top of the lare balloon. It pulls down on it with force, greating a build-up of kenetic energy. When the water balloon bursts, there is a split second before the water hits the bottom of the big balloon. In this short period of time, the weight (that is the water) is temporarily detached from the big balloon. This sudden shift in weight cause the big balloon to relax to its orignal, non-distorted shape, causing it to bounce upward. There you go laser dick! |

Monday, September 05, 2011 2:30:31 PM @Mad_Gremlyn, it honestly surprised me a bit because I didn't expect it to jump up quite as high as it did. That said that question was really directed more towards younger folks (who make up a significant portion of the audience of my videos). Younger folks aren't as familiar with physics and how things work and my hope by adding the question was to engage brains. |

Monday, September 05, 2011 2:23:21 PM Water balloon pulling down on balloon pops and the slack snaps back up followed by water settling to the bottom forcing the balloon down and completing the bounce effect. That question was rhetorical? |

Monday, September 05, 2011 12:38:57 PM @cyborg, it was a real bitch with multiple takes. I even managed to give myself a decent burn from not holding the flash paper right. You can see some of the more funnier outtakes in the "outtakes / fail / bloopers" clip. |

Monday, September 05, 2011 12:27:18 PM @Fatninja01 yes, the thought of a Star Wars Defense system did cros my mind while making this video. Scenario: You're in a water balloon fight with your friend. Your friend lobs a water balloon your way but you've have a water balloon laser defense system (WBLDS) in place that destroys it in mid-flight. You go on to victory in that water balloon battle but your friend goes on to develop a counter system, and back and forth, back and forth. |
