Tuesday, August 30, 2011 4:36:00 PM Brassbull: Marijuana is already an industry, a mom and pop small business industry, for growers here in America and a large drug cartel export industry in Mexico. Legalizing it would destroy the mom and pop growers, turn the drug cartels into companies like Anheuser-Busch, Miller, and Coors, and there would still be criminals smuggling it into America to avoid paying the taxes on it. The quality would drop, and so would students test scores. It's a bad idea all around. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 11:10:07 AM I am all for marijuana treatment, but please relize there is a big difference between treating a disease and curing a disease. Example you may cure an infection with antibiotics, but treatments may also include cough suppressants which just cover the symptoms. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 5:40:48 AM Baal: Allen's Brother Arlen does not believe the way his brother does, Allen never 'Sent' his brother to Maxine Waters, Arlen went to her to embarrass his brother, that's the bottom line. Sometimes that happens in between family members, that doesn't mean Allen was wrong, that only means his brother Arlen is an non-nice individual. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 2:52:59 AM By contrast Ollie; This is how Fox handled this story. Where Allen West called her a "plantation owner" that he's trying to get the black community out of, then sent his brother to that same "plantation". Sorry buddy. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 2:49:07 AM Also we are working on an HIV vaccine, but as I said before there are several subtypes of the virus which means you can be vaccinated for one type but still catch it. Clinical trials started in 2009, and are shown to reduce chance of catching HIV by 33%. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 2:38:33 AM We never CURED polio, we developed a vaccine for it. We also never cured many other viruses like herpes, chicken pox, small pox, the common cold, and HPV to name a few. We did develop vaccines to prevent contracting some of these viruses. You do not even have a basic understanding of virology, microbiology, or medicine so how can you make such brash comments just because 'you don't buy it'. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 2:37:37 AM "This happened nearly 2 weeks ago, and you're just now getting around to it? Oh, yeah, I forgot, you don't watch Fox News, so you never hear about anything that reflects badly on Dear Leader." Except I saw it Almost 3 weeks ago. On the young turks. Hey, here it is on MSNBC. Found it on huffington post too. So pretty much every major liberal news channel. Feel free to rage about how nothing goes on the "MSM" though. For the record: Nobody needs to watch Fox, their followers parrot their talking points so perfectly, we get it by proxy. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 1:59:12 AM grindinblade: Still, It's been over 30 years and billions of dollars have been spent on research with few results except for expensive drugs that just delay the inevitable. Sorry, I'm not buying that HIV is some sort of super-virus that can't be cured. |

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 1:03:53 AM @CrakrJack lol wow your comparison of polio to HIV virus shows how little you know about microbiology and medicine despite your assertion otherwise. HIV is so hard to develop a vaccine for because it mutates frequently, is a retrovirus (meaning it inserts its DNA into our own), and evades the immune system extremely well. With polio you can simply give a weakened version of the virus and someone will develop an immune response, same if you give cow pox as a small pox vaccine. But HIV is very different, which makes it very hard to fight. Its viral coat mutates frequently so we can't use that as a vaccine. Also we have actually cured one person of HIV, this person was an extremely rare case with HIV and leukemia, after a bone marrow transplant for the cancer the HIV load dropped to zero. This is because some people do have a natural defense against the virus replicating, but there is no way to know who. |

Monday, August 29, 2011 9:20:53 PM Well said, Gerry. And that goes for many other so called 'problems' in American society. I believe there are many diseases and other societal problems that have become industrialized to the point that if cures or solutions were ever found it would devastate those industries. I believe those industries sabotage and prevent those solutions and cures for their own profit. If you don't believe it, ask yourself this, Why is it that all that's been done is to develop expensive and lengthy treatments to most health conditions ? Jonas Salk found the cure to Polio in just a few years, Are you telling me that there is no cure for HIV after over 30 years ? I believe peoples pocket books, the insurance industry, and the government are being milked for every penny. This is no different than Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson doing 'shakedowns' on large companies by threatening boycotts and picketing. They either pay up or get the race card hurled at them. |

Monday, August 29, 2011 6:04:26 PM cleanergirl you're obviously missing my point. The minorities in this country want to have their cake and eat it too. I'm saying that they need to realize they can't have it both ways. |
