Whoah, that was bad.. I've build a lot of these size stages, this was very unfortunate. The fault point is probably in the far left front (support for line array), second link from the top.. The tipping point is when roof cover is ripped off but by the looks of it, it would've come down anyway. These sudden storms are the abosulte worst conditions, good strong wind can generate tens of tons of lift in right conditions. With gusts there can be simultaneously lift in one corner and donwforce on another. The structures are temporary, they will hold vertical loads very well but are weak on horizontal.. There's only one way to stop this from happening: every concert/event will double or triple the ticket prize, every event construction will take three times as long, require at least double the workforce etc... Hurricaneproof stagebuilding would be very expensive and tineconsuming (picture two-three weeks of construction time, 4 to 5 times more material...) |
