Tuesday, August 02, 2011 4:45:01 PM @pip-pip666: it sure is; i can tell from the tone and power of her muscles that she is an athlete and has likely the best training and health. she competes among literally the best in the world. i think it's the hop-bones that mess with me in this particular shot when i see bone through skin it strikes me as somehow wrong. i will again note that this is a visceral, irrational reaction in this case; it's the very reason i'm intrigued by my own reaction. |

Tuesday, August 02, 2011 12:17:12 AM @ShadowVamp Maybe the obese are tired of being hassled too? Body image has become the obsession of the age and it's getting ridiculous. This woman has got her body into the optimum shape for being contorted over a bar several feet from the floor, not because it looks good, but because it's the optimum shape for her to achieve this goal. Because the end goal has merit (as far as I'm concerned), I can certainly appreciate her hard work. I can't be quite so appreciative of someone who works hard to look like this for the end goal of thinking it makes them more physically attractive. If the side effect of you achieving something truly inspiring is that you get an aesthetically pleasing body shape, more power to you. If it's just about looking good, meh. |

Monday, August 01, 2011 11:38:19 PM personal to ShadowVamp: i have to admit, i tend to fall into this bias. I've seen lives and bodies destroyed trying to become tis for misguided reasons. i admit that my visceral reaction was to recoil because i find the build unhealthy and kind of scary but that could also be a bias brought on by my personal history (i.e. seeing people hospitalized and dead over body image issues). suffice it to say, the power and beauty of women should be celebrated in all forms, just this particular form is linked to negative things in my psyche. |

Monday, August 01, 2011 9:47:55 PM "because suggesting a woman actually maintain enough mass to allow her to have a period is such an awful thing" It is. Periods = nasty poo. |

Monday, August 01, 2011 9:37:15 PM @I-IS-BORED: Look at the picture. She is clearly of a healthy, athletic build. She is not in any way a bony anorexic, and if she were she likely wouldn't have the muscle strength to compete in the Olympics. I'm tired of women with healthy bodies being hassled as much as the obese because they don't have double D's or their legs are more muscular than the "perfect" models in magazines. When people work hard to have a healthy build, it should be celebrated, not berated with a comment such as, "she has no boobs." |

Monday, August 01, 2011 5:33:15 PM @Revolutioniz the olympics isn't actually the hardest event in many sports "Also, comments like that are the reason so many women and girls hate their appearance and do stupid, dangerous things to change it. Congratulations, you just made the world a worse place." because suggesting a woman actually maintain enough mass to allow her to have a period is such an awful thing |

Monday, August 01, 2011 3:24:03 PM JDplaysFF Im' sure she was happy to risk temporarily having small breasts so she could compete in the olympics, the hardest sports events in the world. what have you been doing with your life? sitting at a computer all day in your room, paying your mother rent? grow the drat up kid. like shadow said, you're a pathetic human and contribute to women being so self conscious.. people like you should just drop off the earth. |
