i feel like going to a therapist is probs gonna help this chick more than a tattoo. Also, yeah, there's TOTES people who cut ebcause of the endorphins, and how dont try to get attention for it. they are not teh ones posting pics of Scars on teh internet. If you post it online, you're OBVIOUSLY looking for attention. that's what the internet is for. |

it looks like the tattoo was applied before teh scars were completely done healing. that's dumb. I knew a girl who used to cut herself. It wasn't nice, but most of her friends called her a dumb bitch, and laughed, and then she stopped, cause it wasnt getting her anywhere. |

According to the tumblr this was taken from, the girl has been dealing with bulimia and depression for a long time now.
Those are indeed cuts.
The tattoo is to remind her to stay strong as she is trying to cure her mental illness, and to also gain courage to not hide the scars when in public. |

@Lukgeezy: People don't cut because they are suicidal. It's a momentary sensation of physical pain that helps them deal with emotional/mental stress and trauma that they are incapable of handling. |

None of those wounds seem to be very new. Hopefully whoever this is has stopped, and perhaps that tattoo signifies their recovery.
And since a lot of people are calling self-injury an attention-seeking method, I can assure you, it isn't. The majority of people who self-harm go at great lengths to conceal what they're doing because they are ashamed of it. And if anyone is using it as an method of attention-seeking, obviously they are mentally unstable if they're harming themselves to get attention.
And for those saying it's absurd to cut yourself if something bad happens to you, well, I can say the same thing about turning to drugs and alcohol and cigarettes for stress relief. Like Subushie, people in such a mental state typically aren't capable of rationalizing their actions and therefore are incapable of seeing it from an outsider's perspective. |

OMG people, really? Cutting is an emotional stress release dysfunction; like punching a wall, or smoking a cigarette. Some people have come to find comfort in the endorphins you're body releases when being hurt; after repeated sessions, it becomes an addiction basically. It has nothing to do with seeking attention (although I am sure there are teenagers that do it for just that reason) most of the time it is simply uncontrollable and people will feel the NEED to do it, and don't rationalize the reason or what will happen after. Those who have different opinions about the matter are simply uneducated. |

I'm sorry but everyone in the world has issues I've had deaths in the family i have had tragedies etc! but i don't go and cut myself I get to my doctor and get some help sorry but there's more productive way in helping yourselves besides cutting yourself! |

I could say the same thing. SEEK YOU OWN HELP!!! Stop crying for attention of looking to "Feel" through cutting. If you have problems, and you recognize these problems and deal with them by slicing your flesh, then you are conscious enough to know you need help. So take your lazy ass out of the bathroom and goto a drating shrink. |

i think that somebody who is troubled enough to actually be slicing their arms open, may be just seeking attention. But I also think that they need that attention, I mean seriously they are cutting themselves, I think that means they are at least a little drated up |

Actually I'm just sick of the stigma associated with cutting. You all sound so fu*king ignorant when you see cutting scars and call that person emo. Remember that behind your computer screen there are real people going through real s%it. I'm just trying to help some of you understand that cutting is a real problem. Not something people do to get attention. maybe the reason we post it on the Internet is because that is the only place we're brave enough to tell anyone. My family of eleven doesn't know anything about all my personal crap. Just try to show a little compassion toward people. Btw- I haven't shared all of my "deep emotional problems" with you. I know none of you will care what caused me to start this, and I don't care to tell you. Just try to act like decent human beings... |

That's what my entire right arm looks like. Try to be more understanding people. You never know what someone is going through. Sometimes it's the only way a person can deal with trauma or abuse. |
