Yes douching is bad. A vag cleans itself. I heard douching can actually cause there to be more bacteria down there since it gets rid the natural stuff the vag cleans itself with.
It's also likely to kill the symbiotic bacteria living there, which are kind of like security guards that stop other bacteria getting in. Douching may well cause an infection, i.e. make your vagina dirtier. So it might not be more bacteria overall, but a wrong kind of bacteria.
Basically, you don't need to wash your insides and it's generally a bad idea to do so. Normal showering of external bits is hygienic. Sloshing chemicals up yourself isn't. I vaguely recall that it's a possible method of delivering treatment for some very rare medical conditions, but it's generally useless at best and harmful at worst. |

I would guess that "70%" number is from women not knowing the difference between the vulva and the labia, not that they don't know where the vagina is.
BTW previous poster- it's not necessary to insert things into your vagina to masturbate so masturbation doesn't guarantee that a woman knows where the hole is. Using a tampon is probably the first experience with it. |
