I bet you that drating hurt. I did this recently; I weigh 108 and found a 250+ pound kid to launch me. I hit the water on my back... shifter two vertabrae to the left :[

17 meters is about 17 yards (19 to be more accurate, 1 Yard = 0.9144m). It's good to see that the last of the stupid-unit countries is trying to catch on (well, Nigeria is still left..). 1000mm = 1m, 1000m = 1km sounds a lot easier than 12" = 1' 3' = yard, and freaking 1796 yards is a mile... Would've thought that USA wuold've be the forerunner in this back in the freaking last century, but no, it's more "A perfect inch, a perfect pint, The Anglo's honest pound" like metric system was somer sort of evil curse. |

WickedSteak, we appear to be stuck with the same in the UK for loads of measurements, we managed to change currency to decimal on one day but have never fully made the change on weight, length, and speed. We call it imperial but loads of idiots seem to be clinging onto some past glory and think it is unBritish to change <groan>. Went to Africa and a friend said something in yards, they laughed at him for being backwards - quite right too. |

This needs to be an iphone app in the style of the "learn to fly" games. Increase weight of launching jumpers, increase skills in the air of the launched person etc etc. I'd pay 59p for it. |

And I agree with the US needing to just go to the metric system. It would make life a little simpler. I also hate how it's referred to as the "standard" system since we're the only ones who use it. Stuuuupid |
