Well put sir.

sociopaths tent to gravitate toward the law enforcement profession just as pedophiles gravitate toward catholic clergy. yeah, it's pretty much a power trip thing, though they are trained to develop an "a$$hole mode" for their own safety. i guess i can understand the point of the training, but a lot of these douchebags thrive on it; hence, sociopaths.

Nice to see the officer is very well trained in law enforcement. Ask for something and when it's shown to you, you completely ignore it and decide the driver has broken the law. Please send the officer to jail.

Bombaytech- thank you for the update, and no, I agree, not all cops are like this. I have a carry concealed license and an NRA sticker on my car (on the drivers side, I've seen more than one cop visibly take note of it before coming to my window on stops) and have never been treated with anything other than professionalism.

I do hope these guys get properly disciplined, though. I would not want to meet up with them in a situation like this.

UPDATE from the website:
UPDATE 7/22/2011: Canton Police announced Thursday that the officer was relieved of all duties in June following an internal investigation complaint filed in this matter. The local Canton Repository has done some additional investigatory work into the officers and an excellent analysis of the video / audio we posted. The video and story has gone both viral and national crossing over to websites not typically affiliated with the pro-gun movement. Shortly after 7:00pm Thursday our website could no longer handle the volume of visitors we were receiving. We promptly quadrupled the resources behind OhioCCW.org in light of the popularity of this story.

I watched half way and couldn't watch anymore. I am in law enforcement. These police were completely out of line. Please, please anyone watching this, do not think that all police are like this. They were out of line.

That's a situation that requires fixing: how about making it illegal to carry a weapon around?

That is really sad. The officer did not follow his protocol and if the guy would have insisted on talking over the officer he would have been treated the same way. It's clearly the officer at fault here. I hope the driver is glad this video is online and not 'lost'

Who can spot the difference between the two vids?

Answer: The person with the gun is black.

I would trust the Ohioans for Concealed arry group a lot more, if they hadn't posted a propaganda video stating they are not an "anit-cop" organisation.

dumbass cop, would he rather it was a criminal without license?

maybe he should have secured the driver before sticking his head in the backseat.

maybe he should have talked with the driver before starting an illegal search of his vehicle.

...aaand apparently IAB UBB/HTML code is deciding not to work today. I have re-typed that message twice now with the proper closing bracket on the quote and it still ends up like that.

The cop was indeed fired (thank GOODNESS): Linky

@Klamz: [quote">I like it when cops get killed because the odds are it's one of these guys... [/quote">
That is the most f-ed up statement I have read in a long time. Get a damn clue. A statement like that makes you sound like a worthless human being yourself, no better than the cop in the video.

Does it strike anyone else that the cop was describing himself more than he was describing the driver?

WorstCaseOnt "WTF do citizens need hand-guns for?????"

to protect us from marauding canadians now shut up.

A persons reason for wanting a gun is not the point.
He does have the right to but the government keeps interfering with that.

why not say ..."WTF does someone want free speech anyway!"
freedoms are important and you always regret it when you let one slip away

Everything about this points to the f'd up nature of Merica.... The fact that almost any random knob can get a liscencce to carry a concealed gun making some jumpy - power trippin cop lose his sh*t. I'd bet the majority of cops handle things like this nut-job rather than the cool dude in the earlier post! WTF do citizens need hand-guns for????? I'll never understand....

No this is just a stupid law to try to take away peoples licenses to posses a gun. If you were paying attention you'd see that by running the license plate or drivers license they could see he has a permit so the requirement to say you're carrying is pointless if they are capable of doing their job right. Besides that what makes you think someone who wants to commite crimes with a gun would go through a bunch of crap to get a gun legally when they can get one illegaly easier and make it much less traceable.

How's the driver a POS???

The officer is clearly unfit to serve as well as a liability to the city he serves. He put himself and his fellow officers in harms way by failing to secure the scene. He executed a search without establishing cause or obtaining consent. Any evidence found would have been tossed out of court. He made direct threats of violence and threats of illegal retaliation to the driver. The officer had to of known he was being recorded so in my opinion he can include himself in the stupid category. The worst part is the driver, who is a POS, will most likely end up with a hefty cash settlement. Well at least it will make for a good training video. There is also a repeated issue with all of these videos of abuse that no officer seems to call for the "duty" officer for back-up.

Wow. What a dumb cop. Seriously. He can't shut his mouth for one second. And if the driver was a cop killer, I guess he would have shot the cops long before they even knew he had a gun. But he was quiet and respectful, even with that officer yelling at him. He handled it well, I think.

Also, police say all this poo, justifying their actions with, "Well, we have to act like non-nice individuals for our own safety." How about you do your job for your own safety? If the police officer had just done his job and engaged all the people in the vehicle in a timely, respectful manner, none of this would have happened.

I've seen quite a few video's claiming to show abuse of power where I instead believed the police to be in the right. This officer, however, needs to be fired and committed to an asylum for the safety of others.
