How dare that man do legal research and completely and legitimately legally get ownership of a house by using his head?! I'm glad the neighbors are trying to gett involved in the legal possession of a house that does not belong to them in any way whatsoever. |

@Angillion But he's not really stealing anything, its more like a car getting repossessed then the repo company/bank or w/e going out of business and leaving the car by the side of the road with no gas but the keys in it.
Which would still be theft.
If you take something that doesn't belong to you, it doesn't stop being theft just because it was easy for you to take it.
He's a clever thief who found a loophole that allows him to get away with stealing $300,000. But he's still a thief. |

Omg I hate his neighbors, they seem so snobby. What jealous goody two-shoes. :/ I hate my neighbors too though... they're nosy. Sort of like these people trying to protect an abandoned home from being taken advantage of. Lol. |

Adverse possession is OLD law, and every single first year law student has to memorize its elements. Did the news story tell how long he'd have to be in the house to receive good title? Three years? Five? Ten? I think that's just how long it takes before a property owner can sue, not until he' scott free. |

no running water? and someone lives there? in arkansas the authorities can get on your case for that. and what about the home's title? someone is the owner of record, and even if the mortgage holder went out of business, their assets still belong to SOMEONE. |

You can buy that house for £185,000!? Holy poo... I've just been looking to buy a place here in the UK, and for that money I could just about get a two bedroom, one living room, one bathroom apartment. And where I live is below national average.
Sounds like a pretty stupid law though. Also surely the house's ownership would default to one of the creditors of the mortgage company that went bankrupt? |
