Terrible shots taken from the US. The Goalie also looks like a big clumsy buffoon in this sequence. one wrong direction and another missed by less than a foot. |

Well guys i did'nt see the match but when a final go to penalties this mean that the two teams are balanced. Penalties are in most of cases question of luck and self control. Both goalkeepers was fine but i think that USA team was a bit nervous and this make the difference. Wish you better luck next time, with more training in penalties and self control you can do it. |

jpfu220 hit the nail on the head "we(usa) lost that game when the defenders decided that it was a good idea to try to clear a ball across the net" and they did it twice, and the penalty kicks sucked. |

@paddy, agreed for the most part, but I don't mind away goals so much, there's definitely an element of home-team advantage in football so it kind of makes sense. I certainly prefer it to penalties.
@nebbie, fair enough, I didn't realise she was injured, can't blame her then. I thought she was shimmying to one side early to encourage the shot in a particular direction. Looking at it again, maybe it was just that she committed a little early on the first one. |

@almightybob The first penalty she did commit, she just realized she was wrong before she could get into a dive. Watch it again. I played goalkeeper for years and I've done that. It's tough to change direction, especially on an injured knee. (she had to have her knee looked at twice) Solo did all she could, I think her and Wambach are the only US players who should have no regrets about their performance. |
