In case anyone doesn't know, that guy landed on a BARBED WIRE fence. Something like 30 stitches in his leg...

I call BS on your comment. Its not humanly possible to watch an entire minute of the Tour de Farce.

The affected drivers teams should so the drat out of whatever media outlet that driver was working for.

It wasn't a team car. It wasn't bad-sportsmanship.

It was a news media car. It was some reporter and cameraman following to get a good shot and had to dodge a tree on the road-side.

There is no excuse for having non-participants (media) on the road during the race.

Think its time for a better solution to having parts nearby

I hope Johnny gave that driver a good piece of his mind, and maybe his bike, when the stage was over. That was sheer stupidity on the part of the driver. This is why I'm glad I ride for fun, not competitively.

@cyborg,

Those aren't people going to work, they are the cyclists team. Spare parts/bikes, supplies, etc.

Kind of just a crappy situation there. Not really any one persons fault. The car had to swerve to avoid the tree. If it had hit the tree it would have been a much worse accident with way more bikes involved.

I was watching this when it happened. They slowed it down a bit in this cut of it, if you watch it at full speed it looks a lot worse!

@cyborg they need it for all kind of stuff. every team has its own car with the coaches in it. they give times, tactic advice, supplies, sparee parts etc etc etc.

@GEoDLeto "Looks like German plates, I smell a conspiracy"

Actually, the car that caused it was the French television car. The plates just look kinda similar.

At first I didn't see the tree: but yes he's avoiding plowing into a tree. If he DID hit the tree it would be a chain reaction of death behind him!
That Hoogerland guy has "balls of steel" for getting back up & continuing! Bravo!
It would be interesting to hear what they were saying:
"Sorry dude! There was a tree on the road!"
"I am SO going to kick your *ss!"
"No really, a tree!"
lolz!

Another question - why the hell is the tour going down such a poxy crap country road? Who the hell set the routing for this year, because there's been several incidents now...
