Saturday, July 09, 2011 9:44:52 AM So how many firefighters has George Bush watched die at this point? He's got quite a tally going on there. |

Saturday, July 09, 2011 9:06:02 AM Putting up nets and safety rails all over would block the fans view of the game. Hardly practical. It's sad, but I'd wager more people are hurt and killed in traffic accidents comming to and going from the game, eh? It's perception, not reality. |

Saturday, July 09, 2011 8:41:32 AM That's sad and all, but I bet they will put up safety nets, or something, all around the stadium now. For now, Darwin: 1 (almost 2), Rangers Ballpark: 0 |

Friday, July 08, 2011 10:20:05 PM xCYBERDYNEx - "That's messed up, they need to implement new safety features out there. This happened exactly 1 year and 1 day after someone else fell at the same ballpark." No, people need to be responsible for their own actions. The railing is there so that people don't just fall off the edge, NOT so you can lean over it to grab a $5 ball. If anything people should start getting ejected for putting themselves in harms way for a stupid souvenir. Good riddance to the dad, for not looking out for his child's future needs and putting his life on the line for a $5 ball. |

Friday, July 08, 2011 6:24:48 PM They said it looked like he actually caught the ball. I can't imagine that the family would want it though. What an awkward conversation that would be. I feel so bad for his son. He was right there when it happened and it looked like the rest of the family was not there. How terrible for him. :( |

Friday, July 08, 2011 4:11:31 PM Not that I'm particularly interested in watching a guy fall to his (soon to be) death, but the video has been removed.

Friday, July 08, 2011 12:09:58 PM Poor kid watched his dad fall and then had to be taken down by the person next to him to his body to say goodbye before he passed. So sad. |

Friday, July 08, 2011 12:04:36 PM That's too bad. With all the empty seats it looks like the Rangers need all the fans they can get. |

Friday, July 08, 2011 9:15:24 AM a) i love how the commentators casually chuckle about it before they grasp the gravity of the situation, and the game continues on. b) how do you think the player that threw the ball up to them feels? |

Friday, July 08, 2011 8:34:36 AM The fall was bad because he was pinned between the board and the stands, most of the way down. It "aimed" him at the ground, head first. After the fall, witnesses said he was asking for someone to check on his son. He was awake and moving. The newspapers are reporting that he died of heart failure, in the ambulance, on the way to the hospital. The whole thing is a terrible tragedy. Not only was a life lost, but another (his son's) has been forever destroyed. How does one grow up normally, being present when something like this happens? My thoughts go out to his son and family. |
