For the love of God really? He fought dogs, he killed dogs. Yes that's drated up. He went to prison, did his time, and as far as I can tell, he's actually learned something. I don't see why people think that killing dogs is worthy of a life sentence without parole or even the death penalty. |

I know Vick and other athletes should not be role models. But regardless of whether or not they want to be admired by children they will be.

I thought he got caught, which is different than confessing because he knew it was wrong. I'm fairly sure they only thing he is sorry about is getting caught.
You know for me personally if I were convicted of such a horrible crime I would change my name and move away. I wouldn't be able to face my friends family or coworkers. |

Michael Vick hasn't killed a millions of humans (that we know of) so another Hitler comparison fail. However I won't buy Nike now that I know they're sponsoring a dog killer. Redemption is one thing. The man fessed up and did his time. But this sponsorship is just wrong. Michael Vick killed 13 dogs by his own admission. He didn't pick a quick, painless method of killing, but instead chose a variety of means that qualify as torture. Pit Bulls are powerful dogs. Imagine how hard you would have to work to kill a Pit Bull by forcibly drowning him. He got his second chance, none of his dogs did. |

What is your point? Murders go on all over the world, robberies and rapes also. Should we not prosecute when we find them? What do people caught running dog fighting rings have to do with child molesters in my neighborhood?
When criminals are caught, they are charged and if found guilty sentenced. The people who ran dog fighting in Chicago back in '09 were charged and sentenced. There was a public outcry, just like with Vick. It was a local outcry, but the players were not national celebrities. National celebrity = national attention. |

What an odd statement. Of course they are role models. They are role models whether or not we want them to be, kids will still look up to them. Young people will emulate them. They will be cheered by the fans and their jerseys will be purchased and worn. They are picked to endorse products because their endorsement and opinions matter.
It would be nice to live in a world where kids didn't use sports figures as role models, but we are not there yet. |

There are NFL players who killed innocent people and got away with it... there are child molesters living in YOUR neighborhood.
