Actually sulfuric acid is hygroscopic, it mixes extremely well with water. |

So many things wrong in this vid
As it was being poured... the liquid was slightly purple... kinda only remember it being clear
Pouring it into a metal sink... I hope those weren't your pipes
I've only seen sulfuric acid stored in glass containers and probably for a good reason.
It kinda looked like fumes were coming off of the sponge, just take a deep breath and feel the burn... in the lungs. Next time do this under a flame hood with proper ventilation.
I'm not sure what the molarity ('strength') of the acid was but not using gloves when it decimated the sponge was an excellent idea.
Now for those of you at home thinking that this would be awesome to do... don't. Ask your chem teacher after school if they can do this and nine times out of ten they will bust it out with the proper safety precautions. Besides the flaming gummy bear is much more exciting. |

... What did they wash it down with, because water+strong acid (in the wrong order) = hellhole.
Why would you even do that in a sink? You've got to dilute it down to a pH you can dispose of. |
