Hell I'm republican and I wouldn't vote for her stupid, dumb, uneducated ass. Read a 4th grade "History of America" book one time bitch!

Umm.. Ben Franklin was an abolitionist, and a Founding Father. I don't know how tirelessly he worked toward it, but certainly his writings speak to this sentiment. How hard would it have been for her to conjure this position on his part?

the Bible passages condemning homosexuality will be ignored by mainstream Christians in much the same way those condoning slavery are ignored today.

It isn't even necessary to go that far. If you look at the original languages, all of those passages can be interpreted to have other meanings. Some of them definitely do have other meanings and have been very obviously misinterpreted.

If using his own tactics against him is wrong, then isn't the whole tactic, no matter who uses it, is wrong to begin with ?

It would be, but (as has already been pointed out) that's not what you're doing.

Madest is not making false accusations of randomly chosen bad things, which is what you're doing to him.

I'm still interested in why you reject the OT approval of slavery and embrace the OT condemnation of homosexual sex. It's a blatantly inconsistent position - how do you justify it?

@Crakr- you're still avoiding addressing Angilion and Madest's central point- it's blatantly hypocritical to use The Bible as a basis for arguing against the rights of people to marry members of the same sex while ignoring the fact that Tbe Bible also condones Slavery (and was used by anti-abolitionists to justify its continued practice in the US). What's funny is that people like you have such a poor sense of history: those who are currently arguing against gay marriage will be seen by the next generation the same way our generation sees people who argued against interracial marriage, for segregation in general, against women's sufferage, etc, and the Bible passages condemning homosexuality will be ignored by mainstream Christians in much the same way those condoning slavery are ignored today.

@CrackrJak But your not using his own tactics against him, your using the EXACT same selective reading/quoting that he was arguing against i.e. homophobes using the bible as a basis, sometimes quoting it for anti-gay sentiment, while ignoring any mention of slavery in the bible. You just did the same thing with his quote, selectively ignoring the part that mattered most.

Angilion: madest's rhetorical statements are so false and harebrained that he's his own worst enemy.

He stretches his Anti-Christian, Anti-Conservative libelous mouth out so far he swallows his whole leg in the process.

If using his own tactics against him is wrong, then isn't the whole tactic, no matter who uses it, is wrong to begin with ?

Just a thought.

CrakrJak:

You're claiming to quote Madest directly and you're still not quoting him.

I didn't miss what Madest actually wrote - a blunt condemnation of the hypocrisy of selectively using parts of the old testament while ignoring other parts.

In case anyone believes the libel CrakrJak is so desperately spreading because he has no counter-argument, here's what Madest actually wrote:

How come Christians are against slavery? The Bible allows for it. They quote the damn Bible every time they talk about gay people. So wouldn't a true Christian desire a return to slavery?

The point, obviously, is that a Christian who disapproves of slavery has no sound theological basis for disapproving of homosexuality.

Lacking a counter, you resorted to calling Madest a white supremacist who advocates racist slavery and hates women. Libel for political and religious reasons.

Angilion: Madest wrote, "...Christians are against slavery? The Bible allows for it.... So wouldn't a true Christian desire a return to slavery?"

I think you must've missed that. As I said before, He's dug his own hole and stepped in it.
The person without an ounce of integrity is madest, He gets his marching orders at Huff Po everyday, His posts and submissions are mirroring what other liberals post there almost daily.

I guess that's one thing the mainstream media does right -- warn us so we don't hire the stupidest candidate as leader of the free world.

Crakr, when TJ wrote "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal", he by no means meant slaves. Slaves weren't considered to be "people" and he didn't write that phrase with an intention of slaves ever being free.

Actually, that's not true. While Jefferson didn't have the balls to live up to his own ideals and free his own slaves, he privately wrote that slavery was an abomination. He was a hypocrite on slavery- he never took a public stance against slavery, and wrote a lot of paternalistic garbage about how his slaves "needed him" to take care of them- but he DID privately envision a future without slavery.

Also, Crakr, while what you said about Paul Revere IS true, that's NOT what Sarah Palin said. Her narrative was one of Paul Revere defiantly warning the British that the colonists weren't gonna take any more of their sh*t: "He who warned, uh, the … the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringin’ those bells and, um, by makin’ sure that as he’s ridin’ his horse through town to send those warnin’ shots and bells that, uh, we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free … and we were gonna be armed." To hear her tell it, Revere's express purpose was to announce to the British that the colonists were in open revolt, which was by no means the case.

@Crakr- Michelle Bachmann makes herself look dumb without any help from anybody else. But go ahead and defend her, I won't get in your way. She's certainly not doing the Republican Party any favors. Personally, if I were a Republican, I would welcome any and all efforts to prevent her presidential campaign from gaining traction.

He's libeled all Christians much worse with his lie that Christians should believe in slavery,

A statement that he's never made.

So you're falsely accusing him of hating women, being a white supremacist and advocating racist slavery and you know those are false accusations and your excuse is to accuse him of something else he hasn't done.

I hadn't thought you were so low. I often disagree with you, but until now I thought you had some integrity.

I say again:

To me, it looks like you're libelling him for religious and political reasons.

madest: Paul Revere was stopped by the British and questioned, Paul Revere DID warn the British not to go any further, That is part of his own written testimony before congress.

John Adams served as an American envoy to France from 1778 until 1779 and to the Netherlands from 1780 until 1782, and the younger John Quincy Adams accompanied his father on these journeys.

The problem with liberals like you is that you've just skimmed over the main parts of history without reading the details. Then you claim superior knowledge about history, when in truth you've just barely got a clue.

Perhaps you and your team should perhaps do a little more research before you start jumping the gun on calling republicans liars or dumb, because when the truth comes out later it just makes you seem like petty antagonizers.

@CJ, So hands off all republicans stupid or otherwise? Democrats go on these talking head shows as well. They're just not claiming Paul Revere was warning the British or that John Adams was a founding father.
And your side has it's mind set on destroying the country.

madest: So the media is supposed to be playing the part of anti-republican inquisitor ?

Sorry, but your team loves to try and twist the facts around to make republicans look dumb. Just because some of our founding fathers were slaveholders, doesn't mean they all were, many did abhor the practice of slavery.

Come on OutWest, You really think the media has a part in her stupidity? They didn't put words in her mouth, they questioned her about what she said and it's exactly the role the media is supposed to play. Could it be that some on your team are just not that intelligent? This isn't the first whacked out BS that's spilled from her maw. People who defend and support her need to have their head examined.

Another example of our unbiased Main Street Media.

They have never seen a Republican do anything right, nor a Democrat do anything wrong.

Unless you are a lib, lefty, or Democrat why would you even listen, read, or talk with them anymore? The MSM has essentially made itself irrelevant to more than half of the people. Just check their ratings and subscriptions as evidence.
