The problem is if you make and exception for him, you have to make one for everyone else who is here, and for anyone else in the world who wants to come here. All what the hell, lets just tell the whole world they are legal citizens here. |

He's one of the only Americans I've heard from online who make America look good. The legal systems everywhere are old, and aren't helping anyone that they were meant to help in the first place. The only thing they are doing is making old, bald, white guys' jobs easier and filling their wallets. |

It doesn't matter how good of a person you are if you look at a law and decide that you're special enough that it doesn't apply to you. That makes you a criminal. |

2. Good story, but he's the minority. I'm sure you'll find tons of illegals that would rather not work hard, be proud to be in America, and not pay taxes or contribute to society.
3. He needs to go through the proper channels anyways, its whats fair and just. |

I can easily define American:One who was born here or emigrated in a lawful manner.While this man came here illegally through no fault of his own,ethics and moral character would dictate that you go through the proper channels to make things right-rather than collude with others to keep the illegal status hidden.And the fact that a state employee would warn him off is incomprehensible.
This guy says a few times here that he does not have the right papers,when in fact he has none.Just forgeries.He is not a slave;He has no underground railroad.He is illegally in this country.He may be a nice guy,he may be hardworking,but he knowingly broke the law.For at least ten years.This is not admirable.Admirable would be for him to make it right.Not expect the law to be changed to suit his situation.Check out sometime,what the Philippines policy on treatment of illegals.
If you are not legal,get out.If you want to come back,do it according to our laws. |

Meanwhile at the school I teach at about one third of the kids are there illegally. The school keeps them since the sparse funding from the state comes from the number of kids in the seats. The police aren't going to do anything since they have their hands full with violent crimes that they can't even take care of the child prostitution rings on campus.

Typicaljerk, well considering I have summer college classes at 8 in the morning, I feel that it is inefficient to go to work at 5 only to work for 2 hours then to go to class until about 3.
And it's not so much as me whining about it, I was using my personal experiences as a point of reference. But I guess putting in 30 or so applications in for the past 3 months means I'm not trying. |

look I dont care how hard he worked or how much he pays in taxes or what he does. The law says you are an illegal therefore you are an invader into this country.
We need to enforce the laws we already have. So, yes I would deport this guy. I dont care how much good he has done. He has known since 16 that he was illegal, that was plenty of time for him to step in the right direction and become LEGAL. |

first, you should use quotation marks so it doesn't look like you are saying something when you're quoting someone.
Second, It is illegal to hire illegals. Businesses do it because it's profitable so the ONLY way to make it unprofitable is with HUGE fines.
Third, I expect the government to enforce laws already in existance.... you call that whining, I call it a lack of leadership from the government. A failure to do their jobs. |

Everyone in this country, legal or otherwise pay taxes. There is no avoiding it.
So who pays the INCOME TAX on the daily cash wage that MOST illegals get in this country? They certainly don't.

Illegal aliens aren't taking your jobs. You're not going to pick peas or clean your neighbors house.
Plenty of out of work Americans would love to do these jobs, but they aren't there. Why? Illegals being paid under the table, and getting no benefits for the place they work.
That reasonably priced food you eat may very well have been handled by an illegal but I'd bet the same people that piss and moan about illegal aliens would piss and moan about $15 chickens.
Yeah, about the same as a liberal pissing and moaning about gas prices, but then blocking oil research and exploration, and protesting the building of newer, cleaner refineries.
You cannot just get welfare without proving citizenship. My insurance pays for the uninsured, that goes for illegals and illiterate Americans.
Even if the proof is a stolen SSN or a fake green card? Yep.
