I'm not sure if your comment was towards me or the posters who were talking about weed.
The part of your statement about substances being a creative crutch is true. However, this is only true for repeated usage of stimulants or depressants.
Taking hallucinogens once or twice in a lifetime is different than being addicted to heroin or crack. I don't know if you have ever taken acid, but it distorts the senses and perception. It gives you a different prospective, there for expanding on your creative thinking. It wont make you Picasso, but you will have expanded on what you started with.

Seriously? Most of these were just repeating the same idea but changing the wording. 26: have an idea, write it down. Well luckily 2 was carry a notebook everywhere... what else was the notebook for? Do notebooks naturally give off an aura of creativity? |

Most illegal stimulants will ruin your creative career, not enhance it. You end up using it like a crutch when in most cases, if you're not creative without it, you're not creative with it. |

Get away from the computer? What if your creative outlet is something like creating YouTube videos or writing flash video games?
Create a framework? Whatever that means? I'm thinking frameworks mean ways in which you do things. If you build that, you're limiting your creativity. |
