That's what happens when you support stupid people, and yes, standing there watching a riot from inside the crowd is support and stupid. The guys watching from top of the buildings, smart, out of harm's way, and can't be said to be supporting the riot.

I was there that night and left once they started firing the tear gas which was while the sun was still out. Anyone still there at that time of night has no sympathy from me. It would have been easy to get off the street they were rioting on and gone home. The trains and buses WERE running. I think the police gave the innocent people enough time to leave and anyone else that stayed deserved what they got.

Looks like they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. And as the last two posters have said, it would seem like they chose to be there.
Probably one of THE pictures of 2011 tho ^^

If you were there after the game you only needed half a brain to tell what was going to happen next. Whoever was there and didnt want to be there should of used their legs and GTF outta there!

Swaywithme seems to have understood the concept, why didnt so many others?

That was one thing that bothered me about it- If more people had left the downtown core ASAP after the game, it would have been easier for the police to put down those actually rioting. Central buses and cabs were shut down- true that, but the sky trains were open and there were like 5 stations within walking distance.(Stadium, Granville, Burrard, Waterfront and VCC) I walked to stadium and went into Yale-town to get away.

Yeah, they got stuck downtown... stuck huh.

I know when I'm downtown and I see a massive group of people breaking things and shouting and riot police coming at us I always just stay right there next to them and definitely NOT go away and find some place safer down the street a little.

If you were their you were part of the riot! even if you were not rioting, you were part of a group that had rioters in it that was harder to put down because their were too many people, they got what they deserved.

"Boo-F*cking-Hoo. If they didn't want to get hurt/in trouble they shouldn't have gone to a riot."

A lot of the people who were at the riot weren't rioters. Downtown was full of people who were out to watch the game, and then when the riots broke out all public transport had been shut down, and cabs weren't picking people up. A lot of people got stuck downtown because they had no way to leave.

Link: Vancouver Riot 'Kissing Couple' Video Surfaces [Rate Link] - Maybe they aren't attention whores after all. Maybe they were roughed up. Looks like their story might be legit.
