iirc Charles Schulz created the first Negro charecter in a white cartoon (if that makes sense). In any event, Franklin was groundbreaking and really did stir up a lot of racists. Schulz didn't intend to BE controversial, he just wanted a new, interesting charecter, to replace "Shermy" who'd grown quite boring... |

as much as we'd like to act like racial integration was no big deal, it caused a lot of tensions and conflict back in its day.
it shouldn't surprise anyone that something like this happened. god forbid they try and not piss off a large portion of the population, no matter how backwards we think they are now. |
