It's not shopped. How do I know - I'm from Sofia. The lady in the second picture is not painting the monument, actually she has just finished cleaning it. The red spot is from a permanent dye from years before. :) |

It is not done by "Soviets". It is done by Bulgarians, who were on the Nazi side during the majority of the WWII. They switched sides when Soviets knocked on their door. The Soviets liberated Bulgaria from occupying Nezis and today some punk thinks that this is cool.
Graffity says "Keep pace with current times(history)". Well, i guess St. Claus, Superman and McDonalds liberated Bulgaria and are Bulgarian best friends.
History is history. We could do this to many monuments around the world and write "Keep it updated" underneat.
Just stupid. Regardles what Soviet regime did to Bulgaria it was Soviet soldiers who liberated Bulgaria from the Nazis. This is Bulgarian way of showing how grateful they are. |

History is history! You can't change it just like you can't change what you had for lunch yesterday. Suggesting to melt the monument just because you don't like what has happened is stupid and pointless.
Just as an FIY things where better under so called Soviet rule. A lot better. Now since we are free from it the whole country has become corrupt and you can bribe anyone. So yeah in "Soviet" time you wouldn't have this crap happening. |

I feel like this had to have been allowed to be done. If this is a public monument there is no way someone would have had enough time to do as much detail as they did without someone catching them. Mad props though to whoever did it though. |
