Just finished it - thanks for sharing. It's good to be told that defining your version of success is more important than considering yourself deserving or not of other people's versions.

@psychobones...brilliant. My thoughts were that all of the problems she noted were a direct result of egocentricity. People think we are more than the evolution of space rubbish, and that's where the problems begin.

"I don't know what her alternative is and I'm not sure her analysis is exclusive to capitalism anymore than Human nature itself"

Agreed! Go listen to the TED talk on meritocracy. It is more a criticism of the failures of democracy and it makes much more sense than this.

Yeah well if I didn't have so many damn choices growing up I probably wouldn't have made so many bad ones.

Sounds suspiciously socialist to me

The other way of looking at this is to be reminded that the happiest people are not the ones with the most money, they are the ones that are able to be happy for what they have. I may not like my car or the wine I drink but someone in Somalia might shoot me in the face for it. Instead, put first things first, and let the details sort themselves out. Enjoy and be satisfied with things things that we do have and find joy in what we have, not suffer for what we don't.

I make grocery lists and hate people. This doesn't pertain to me.

Sorry, I still like having choices. Even though I have to agree with quite a bit of what the 'toon said.

I'm not sure if you're really getting the whole point of this. It seems like there are so many choices out there, but in reality there is the option where you get drated over by the system, or you acquiesce to the system and accept it. There is an illusion of freedom, but really it's a matter of working your ass off for just enough to get by, and feel unfulfilled in all aspects of life. Like a tool to be used and thrown away.

This is ridiculous. Too many choices. Oh my what ever will I do. Hey if you think there are too many choices just start picking the FIRST one and be done with it. The rest of us, the sane ones, will continue to choose wisely and that will slowly but surly change the choices we have as good options are taken and poor options rejected. So don't be surprised if the "first choice" changes now and again.

I don't know what her alternative is and I'm not sure her analysis is exclusive to capitalism anymore than Human nature itself, but I do have the fortitude to admit that I've noticed myself suffering from some of the syndromes described.

However, it's better than complacency in my estimation.

2:00 What's wrong with Blue Nun wine? It's a nice German wine, can't go wrong with it.

Totally gave up after that. What a whiner! Wee wee! I have so many choices! Oh whatever shall I do?
How about: stfu and quit whining!

We have stars? Since when?

Not so @BigM, it's common that several people suggest the same item. Happens to me all the time! It's either the first to submit it, or just the first one the Mods come across, idk. But it's definitely NOT based on stars, reputation or stuff like that.

Maybe people who cannot handle having choices shouldn't choose to breed.
