Seems a little like you're stretching it. You can choose all kinds of things that are similar about the stories and all kinds of things that are not similar. Of course the main idea is that they're all good overcoming evil, but that's typically how stories work, so there's nothing new here. |

Um...it's a method of story telling called, "The Hero's Journey". It's as old as time itself.
Yes, it's formulaic, but that's why it's so successful. We've been telling stories of this kind since we could throw poo at each other. |

Simba wasn't friends with two social outcasts until after he stopped living happily ever after, was never an Orphan, Scar *did* take over the pridelands, and didn't really use a mountain to kill scar. (He was killed by Hyenas).
Also Vader never lost a fight to Luke, and *spoiler alert* Vader is Luke's Dad, ergo, not an Orphan. |

Seriously, the scene in "2012" with the An225 on the way to Hawaii is just like a gag I wrote, with music, in 2004 (but did not publish...)
Homer said there were only about 7 plots and all stories are built by combining them like music.
When applied to any period, contemporaries will always
produce overlap.
