The idea that bank robbers do it because their families are threatened is absolute bullcrap.
MrHyde, you are an a complete moron and shouldn't be allowed to live. A bank robber robs a bank because they want to get high. They don't have money to buy drugs and so they steal it. They're families are being threatened ONLY by the robber's drug habit.
MrHyde, you should go die somewhere for having had that thought. |

MyHyde, that is complete and utter speculation, based on nothing. Is that supposed to justify the crime? Whatever. It was a bad man, and the good guy took him out. That's all I needed to know. The sad, tearful back story of the bad guy is irrelevant and pointless to speculate about, unless you just want to let criminals get away with their crimes. |

Bank robbers threaten people. If they didn't, they wouldn't be very effective robbers.

The problem with attacking bank robbers, regardless of who they threaten, is they are almost never the sociopaths they are cracked up to be.
If they are not sociopaths, you probably just killed the robber's family member. Bank robberies are for people who need money fast, usually because someone is threatening to kill their family (They don't threaten the person directly because the person would simply run away). The bank robber is caught and the money doesn't make it, the family dies.
If the bank robber is a sociopath, he/she will happily shoot you and then your children just for attacking him/her and feel absolut |

Should have, could have, would have...none of that matters when the facts are clear. He took the bank robber down. When you absorb that and completely wrap your head around it. No one was hurt, except the bank robber...and his pride. Shaken but not stirred.

@I-IS-BORED: That's kind of what I was thinking too. He doesn't mention that he knew (or even thought) the gun was fake.
When people are no longer in direct danger, I don't think it's very intelligent to run outside unarmed and attempt to take down a man with a gun... Especially when you have two children to be thinking about.
Plus, it does sound as if the man "waved the gun in one of the children's general direction", so it does feel a bit like they're skewing the facts in a more favorably heroic direction.
I mean, it's great he took the guy down, but if he'd been shot and killed, in perspective what he did would've seemed a bit unnecessary. |

@IceDragon77, just sticking in my two cents, but I think Wendypants is doing the opposite of what you're thinking. Yes, racial discrimination exists. Yes, one stereotype is that black people are thugs and thus commit crimes, like robbing banks. So, it IS nice to see that the stereotypical roles are not mandatory, or, here, correct. I'm gonna go a little further out, and, since you interpreted what Wendy said as racist, I wouldn't be surprised if you misinterpret this that way, too - but it's not. I live maybe 45 minutes from Newark, East Orange, and Patterson (NJ). There are all very ghetto towns, and there is a lot of crime. A lot of black people live there, too. So, in the local news, I always, like alwaysss, see Wanted pictures of black bank robbers. So, for me (even though I'm white)..ummm, it's nice for me to see that black people don't hold a monopoly over that career, anymore than whites hold a monopoly over the role of hero. :D Very cool story, very very cool indeed!!! |
