Monday, June 06, 2011 10:02:37 PM "soooooo MI6...the james bond people....their major contribution to the war on terror here is they troll the al qaeda website..... riiiight so england is drating useless " So to be useful you think that England should continue to take human lives? This is a succesful attempt at AGGRESSIVE PEACEFUL NEGOTIATIONS. In other words, a peaceful means to fight a war. This is the most fantastic and genius things to do, and you want to meet it with "KILL MOAR, FIGHT MOAR" That is exactly why the world still has wars. Honestly, Kudos to M16 for using their ability in a better manner. |

Monday, June 06, 2011 9:59:31 PM "And what was gained was perhaps showing susceptable young men that the big impressive terrorist organisation they've been tempted to join is, in fact, a bunch of laughable amateurs doomed to failure?" Or more realistically it shows these hardline Muslims that the west and its ALLIES are not trying to kill all muslims, just stop them from killing people. Thats what this war has been about in the first place. |

Monday, June 06, 2011 2:00:48 AM @securitywyrm "the result is that now the terrorists know they've been hacked" Maybe they had already found out, the operation had finished, and nothing was lost by making this public after the effect? And what was gained was perhaps showing susceptable young men that the big impressive terrorist organisation they've been tempted to join is, in fact, a bunch of laughable amateurs doomed to failure? |

Monday, June 06, 2011 1:01:39 AM Someone decided to 'be cute and get publicity', and the result is that now the terrorists know they've been hacked, the files have been restored and we've lost an edge. Minor modifications to the recipes to make them non-functional (such as a wrong wire direction or neutralizing chemicals) would have been the proper response of an intelligence agency. Shame. |

Sunday, June 05, 2011 11:19:24 PM lol. Nice. My gut reaction was that if they managed to hack the website, why not try and shut down the server? Then I realized such a thing would likely easily be detected and hard to pull off. This grabs media attention and ridicules them. Cupcakes make sense then, although I would put a different recipe... something involving lots of bacon. I'm still waiting for that photoshopped cupcake bomber... |

Sunday, June 05, 2011 10:10:30 PM Wouldn't it have made more sense to replace the bomb-making instruction with instructions on how to make a bomb that would blow up in your face as you made it? |

Sunday, June 05, 2011 8:59:03 PM What the drat. So, the intelligence agency of a country can choose to block any online content that they want? BAD Precedent. To be clear, I don't want rogue terrorists making pipe bombs in their kitchen as much as the next guy, but seriously, does anybody else notice the issue with what M16 is doing? What other kinds of important information could be blocked or attacked? Who says what's ok and what's not? |

Sunday, June 05, 2011 11:55:28 AM Paddy, the greatest weapon we have is wit. Make them look ridiculous and watch their recruitment crash. They take themselves far too seriously, why should we take them seriously? |

Sunday, June 05, 2011 11:46:33 AM Kind of funny, but the fact that MI6 are playing pranks on terrorists instead of actually catching them is pretty worrying. "We'll send them recipe's for tastey treats. That'll teach them for killing thousands of people!!" |
