I doubt this game will be worth the time and money spent to make it.

Considering that it took 14 years and bankrupted a cash-rich gaming company, obviously not. There are major films with smaller budgets than DNF. No game is worth that much time and money.

But it might make a profit and Gearbox bought the entire Duke Nukem IP, not just the one game. So they're after DNF as a start, not a finish.

I'll probably buy it and probably consider it £25 worth of entertainment.

I'll also consider it worthwhile to see just how much sexist hypocrisy is spewed by people ranting against DNF. They all have the same basic idea - they don't mind any depiction of any degree of violence against men, but any depiction of women other than as superhero geniuses gives them rage.

I get a feeling this is gonna be a let down. Like Guns N' Rose's Chinese Democracy. And while we're on delayed things, I still don't think Dr. Dre's Detox will be coming anytime soon.

It's like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Charlie Sheen, Randy Savage, Bruce Campbell and Arnold Schwarzenegger (1979 and John Holmes all rolled up into one testosterone-addled freakshow.

YEAH BABY!! I wanna rub my sack on a CD ROM of this one.

The bible-thumping hypocritical right will have a field day trying to ban this for our own good. How long till stores start nixing the sales, while Amazon racks up the dough?

The graphics in this game look really inconsistent. One moment all the textures are faded and blurry and the next they are surprisingly detailed. I doubt this game will be worth the time and money spent to make it.

The cake is a lie. Seen better looking games 5 years ago.

Yeah, because a heavily compressed video at Youtube 360 resolution is an excellent guide to what a game will look like at 1920x1080 or higher on a decent PC.

Maybe they're showing a console version, anyway.

Looks are the least of my concerns. I still play DN3D with the HRP and that's about 10 years behind current graphics. It's still a great game. I want a game, not a graphics demo.

I've been waiting for this game for a very, very long time (like everyone else), but it looks like they took a lot of the original DN3D and incorporated it into this...I understand why, but I'm not going to pay 60 bones for a game I played 15 years ago.

Apparently the stuff taken from DN3D is the intro section, to get some degree of continuity.

The general feel of it does seem like DN3D though, which is great. I was concerned that they'd tone it down and prettify it, but they haven't. There will be raging complaints in abundance.

Besides, it was already pushed back *again* to 6/14...I have a feeling it's going to happen again.

That would be very surprising, since it has been officially stated to have gone gold. So they've said it's finished and they're having the discs stamped and the manuals printed, ready to sell.

I'll see what "copy protection" is on it and how consolised they've made it before deciding whether or not to buy it. Pre-ordering is far too chancy nowadays. The only games I've pre-ordered in years were TDU2 (which shipped as an early beta, clearly stated as such in the version number, couldn't be played at all for 2 weeks and still isn't finished, months and large patches later) and The Witcher 2, which I bought solely because the devs stuck their neck out and sold it through GOG without any DRM at all. I haven't even played it yet - I was paying for the distribution model and the game was just an extra.

After all this time, this has no choice but to be the best f*cking video game ever. Seriously. It HAS to be. 14 years of hype for a bad game will put you on Atari ET status.

Wow a funny, politically incorrect first person shooter? Did go back in time to the early 90s?

How long before there is a senate investigation into the negative effects of this game?
