Theres something I like in EVERY Star Wars movie, the Lightsaber combat is far better in I-III, but lets face it, Plain and simple, Lucas Made I-III to target kids, kids = money, Why else would he add so much stupid humor and pointless characters like Jar Jar? None of that was in IV-VI, face it, you flash a bunch of pretty lights and put a "silly" character to make kids laugh and your set.
People keep saying "lucas sucks at directing" Really? Because his "unwatchable movies" are STILL making him Millions. Games, Movies, Toys, Tv shows with no signs of slowing down any time soon. I don't agree with Lucas' Choice but financially a solid move. |

George Lucas has so much money that he doesn't give a flying fornication what any of us says about Star Wars. These movies have made so much moolah that each of us can criticize until we're blue in the face, and his answer is likely to be, "I don't care what you think". Then he'd laugh and laugh while he whistles his way to the bank.
And I am frickin' jealous. |

George Lucas was always an aweful director. The best movie of the original three was irrefutably The Empire Strikes Back which was directed by Irvin Kershner, not George Lucas. The only explanation I can think of for the other two being so good is because he was still young, passionate about his job, and surrounded by talent. But whatever it was, by the time he started I-III it was gone. Those movies are unwatchable! |

Somehow, this is a surprisingly new and even more surprisingly true take on both JarJar and 3PO. How have I never thought of this before? Well said, Rick.
Still, Anakin building 3PO, Anakin as a child being such a terrible actor, Anakin lucking into blowing up the space station, etc. Pretty crap.

You know what? I'm so sick of people putting down the prequels as not true to the Star Wars universe. It's his friggin' world. He can make it whatever he wants, and yes, we have to eat it. It's because of all the people who said negative things about it that he won't make the sequels he originally planned. For crying out loud, Jar-Jar was just the new (old?) C3PO. Comic relief people. |
