LordJim - I see what you mean, and it makes sense.
Although celibacy is most likely not the cause of the pedophilia cases we keep seeing, I still think that celibacy isn't necessarily a good thing - humans were meant to reproduce and denying your body that instinct for your whole life just goes against nature. What's wrong with having a wife and kids? The leaders of my church all have a wife and kids. |

Obviously a lot of priests just have discreet affairs with adults. That's what normal people do if they can't handle celibacy but like being a priest.
I suspect it's the other way round; they don't become paedophiles because they're priests, they become priests because they are paedophiles. It's been known as a safe haven for this for centuries at least. |

This is what happens when you take men whose blood is coursing with testosterone, and you make them vow never to act on their emotions for the entirety of their lives - no marriage, nothing. Anyone who's too lazy to read a short article before commenting on it (99% of the retards on here) has an opinion that does not matter. Anyone who read this would know that the real headline of this post should be "Popes pedophilia reform adviser charged with ... absolutley nothing." It was an ordinary priest who is now getting punished for his crimes, its still drated up that he would do it, but blaming the wrong man, especially in a case like this, is disgusting and utterly digraceful. |

There are several reasons for that:
- This IS the biggest and most powerful religion/religious organization in the west.
- The Church enjoys a lot of special privileges, the reason being that they provide important social functions like taking care of the young and old.
- Those people claim to be morally superior. They are measured by that claim.
If we trust a big corporation with our spiritual well-being and that of our kids, we can and should use higher standards. That combined with the fact that this organization has a history of covering up and even deny such incidents, it's only fair they get special attention. |
