Actually until next year "Mentally retarded" is an acceptable text book term used in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, It will later be changed to "Intellectual Disability". Until then retarded is fair game. |

Here's where this country is going PC nuts. The medical term for a lack of oxygen to the brain at birth is "Retardation of the brain". The effected person is "Retarded". My brother was born in 1955 with this condition.So "No", I will not stop using the "R" word. By the way, "Real" Autism means you can't speak. When are we gonna stop calling all these kids getting a government check "Autistic"? |
