@5Cats First off, please cite your sources. Where are you getting your information from? Is it a legitimate source or are you just spitting out any old thing you found using Google?
Secondly, Canada's population is approaching 40 million people. The USA's population is approaching 310 million. Policy changes can make a difference, but it's true not a big one if only puny countries like Canada take part. |

i took this gorilla test about 500 times or so.
because every teacher of mine finds this very interesting and thinks no one has ever seen this before. so it'd be awesome to show it in the class. and my friends on the internet think this test is very interesting so they keep sending me the link for it. i appreciate the fact that people want to share their interesting findings with eachother. but nothing really keeps their abstract characteristics (beauty, funniness, interestingness, etc) forever.
believe it or not, that is true. |

However, that's 'today' and I said 100 years from now. So yes, today it's 1.9%, but in 100 years, when developing nations have, you know, developed their industry? It will (estimated) be 0.5% or less.
You've developed a habit of 'correcting my mistakes' when the mistake is in your perception @LazyMe.
So if we stopped entirely, which is impossible, in the long run it would make no difference.
CHINA is 'exempt' from Kyoto & such, the biggest polluter in the world can just go ahead full steam! Great plan, eh? |

At one point in Earth's history approx. 90% of land species were made extinct by the a massive change in temperature (before even the dinosaurs).
The cause(s) of extinction events (there have been half a dozen, though the one you refer to is the worst) isn't known. |

On the topic of global warming (though this video was about seeing faces...) it's a fairly natural occurance. At one point in Earth's history approx. 90% of land species were made extinct by the a massive change in temperature (before even the dinosaurs).
However, though fairly natural...humans are speeding the process up with the greenhouse gasses.
Oh, and loved the nun bun :p |

The Earth's climate naturally lowers and rises with time, but I feel humans are speeding the rate at which it is rising by polluting the air and depleting the ozone. My word is out. |

I would so make fun of your grammatical failure there if I hadn't spelled lose "loose" in my last post.
May I ask though, what makes you believe that this is a natural climate fluctuation as opposed to man made?
It is scientific fact that Co2 and Methane gasses trap heat, scientists have known for years before the global warming "scare" that those gases are responsible for keeping the earth warm enough to be livable, and we know that we are now dumping HUGE EXCESSIVE amounts of it into the atmosphere.
Why wouldn't that have an effect on our climate?

@deeplick I see what you are saying, it is possible that we will end up in the freezer instead of the frying pan, but that doesn't mean climate change isn't real.
Look up the scientific properties of the heat trapping green house gasses that we are putting into the atmosphere like Co2 or methane. Keep in mind that no one disputes their properties. Are you telling me then that once they reach our atmosphere they loose those properties and their ability to trap heat? Now look up how many metric tons we are sticking into our atmosphere.
No effect? Doubtful.

The problem with global warming is that if the earth was to rapidly heat up, the polar ice caps would melt, and the sudden torrent of cold water rushing into our oceans, would drop the core tempature of the earth. Thus starting another ice age.
In fact here is some homework for all you pro-global warming people. Look up ice age. Notice how many we have had, notice that each time we had one, the earth heated up, melted the polar caps, and caused a ice age. Not once, not twice, in fact its happen more then three times.
Global warming is a fluke, its the natural order of things that the world heats up. It has been happening over and over and over and over for billion of years before we even started producing green house gases. This is just the natural order of things and you guys need to get off this scare tactic train, because that's all it is. Scare tactics. |

I don't know what "new data" you a reading, 5Cats, but it is inaccurate. All of the most prominent scientific journals agree that climate change is a real and current phenomenon. There are valid disagreements to do with how much of that is man made, what the exact consequences of it will be and what can be done about it, but no serious scientist is questioning whether it exists.
Also, it's hard to even intentionally miss the monkey when you've seen the video before, but I remember being slightly blown away the first time. |

If Canada CEASED to produce "greenhouse gasses" it would make:
Less than 1/10 of 1% over the next century difference in total world pollution.
That means ZERO: no gasoline, no heating houses, even with wood-fire! No industry, nothing. It wouldn't make a "spit in the ocean" difference in the Global picture.
So these AGW supporters say "reduce to 1996 levels" or whatever, for Canada. It whould make ZERO MEASURABLE DIFFERENCE in the next century.
BUT it would cost billions! And tens of thousands of jobs lost. Multiply by 10 for the USA, eh?
Thus I oppose this pseudo-science and it's horrific social cost.
Oh, to stay on topic: The first time I saw this, I totally missed the monkey! I was sure it was a trick, but no! Learned something new, eh?
Now I can see the fnords!

Ah @patchouli, a kool-aid drinker to be sure! Weather changes, it has for millions of years! It was hotter before humans were here, and it was colder before humans were here. HOW does AGW explain that? Also: if the temps rise? It's AGW! If the temps fall? It's AGW! Some "science"!
