Wednesday, June 08, 2011 12:41:58 PM What do you do to a 14 year old who does not listen or obey the rules of the parent, after parent consistantly expresses concern? Give him a cookie and some juice, sit him down at the kitchen table and waste your breath some more? The son stole money and snuck out of the house when his father was at work, trying to make a living. If I pulled that crap at age 14, my father would have put my head through a DRATING wall. |

Sunday, May 29, 2011 5:21:23 AM he stripped him, beat him, and dragged him naked in front of his friends oh yeah that's perfectly good parenting, good call you IABers who are defending him. he's not gonna have major issues at all, your right this is extremely healthy for a 14 year old boy. |

Friday, May 27, 2011 2:04:02 PM Oh yeah, when I said dragged, I meant more like pulling the kid out by the arm harshly, not literally lol. |

Friday, May 27, 2011 12:27:03 PM No 14 year old child deserves to be tied up and dragged naked through the streets. Period. That is just abusive, and all it will teach him is that when someone does something wrong, the appropriate response is violence and humiliation. How is that going to help anything? There are other ways to discipline a child, you confiscate something they like, refuse to allow them to go to a friends house for a period of time, or ban them from attending a concert or event they wanted to go to, or assign them extra chores. Something other than stripping them naked, beating them, tying them up, and dragging them through the filthy streets where their bare skin is sure to get cut up and those cuts will probably get infected. |

Friday, May 27, 2011 9:43:49 AM Ok, I remember there was an article on IAB about a father who sold his son's toys on Ebay as punishment or something (those who remember that will know what I'm talking about ;D), and if I recall correctly, that seemed to get most of the posters there fired up saying that it was terrible, humiliating and just downright poor parenting. On this article though, I see there are mixed reactions to this situation. I'm just asking out of pure curiosity, what makes this any more right than the whole Ebay fiasco? I think some parallels can be made here. On that note, I absolutely don't disagree with punishing the boy. I probably would have dragged him out of the place too, but I think stripping him was a little much... |

Friday, May 27, 2011 2:05:13 AM "...parents have given over their children's future to bleeding heart educators..." Ah yes, the ol' knee-jerk blame the teachers response. Followed by: "...more power to the intelligent parent who truly loves their child enough to teach them Nothing In This Life Is a Handout." An 'intelligent parent' would not be blaming teachers for their own mistakes with childrearing and they would have made sure their kids don't use capital letters with every word that sound all important-like. |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 9:54:52 PM @cherrybawls, you can't say to a kid "I love you, stop playing video games." They aren't going to listen. Plain and simple. I'm sure the father had disciplined his kid harshly before, and if that kid still didn't listen then he deserves to be dragged naked in the streets. |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 6:31:12 PM I can understand the father's desire for his son to be more active regarding work and the real world, but resulting to physical violence will only instill fear and more violence as opposed to respect and dignity. He's a f*cking kid, for christs sake...life should be more about games when you're a kid. You learn to balance fun and work as you get older, under the safe teachings of your parents, not by being dragged in public without any clothes. Ridiculous. |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 5:52:40 PM The fact that the father felt he needed to resort to this sort of method only shows his previous failure as a father as he was clearly unable guide his son through love and affection |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 5:10:50 PM The reason America is no longer #1 on the World Stage, and may never be again, is because parents have given over their children's future to bleeding heart educators who put more stock in giving EVERYONE A trophy for no reason, and never spanking a child. It's all about Self-Esteem...every thing is a handout--of trophies, grades, gold stars and compliments. This father understands that. If you don't WORK, then you shouldn't receive. Sitting on a computer all day in a fantasy world won't get you through college, get you a job, put food on your table, pay your rent, or make you a contributing member of society. And if it takes some kids being humiliated and having their bottom ache for a few days to accomplish that...more power to the intelligent parent who truly loves their child enough to teach them Nothing In This Life Is a Handout... |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 2:57:54 PM 'I have told him surfing the web is a bad thing many times but he never listened. I beat him because I don't want him to be ruined by the web.' Yea, he would rather ruin him. Nothing says good parenting like decades of parental loathing and counseling. |

Thursday, May 26, 2011 1:21:16 PM Tiger dad. Them Asians don't F around. It's why they are America's most successful minority. They evidently don't tell their kids how great they are when they scribble a unicorn on the basement wall. |
