As much as I hate to say it since I'm a first responder, I agree with dmoltrup - these aren't 'good samaritans', these are firefighters. Likely paid, possibly volunteer, but regardless, that doesn't fall under the 'samaritans' category. |

(Most) hunters do care. Just because a person hunts doesn't make them mindless killing machines. I'm a hunter on occasion, but I would still put full effort into saving that baby. I butchered 2 animals today, yet a few years ago I pulled a grown fox out of a silo pit where it had fallen even though I raised chickens at the time. Everything deserves a chance. |

As a person that has lived on an elk ranch my whole life, I would have kept all those people away. The poor calf was traumatized as it is, and its better to get it out quickly and with as few people around it to scare it. But it was good that they got it out quickly. Poor things are so small, that they have to nurse a lot. |

white tailed dear in North America have an inflated population due to the low population of their primary predators, the gray wolves. that's why people are allowed to hunt them during the designated hunting season. That said, the reason the gray wolf population is so low is because people hunted them and destroyed their habitat, combined with the fact that they need large territories. |
