Monday, May 23, 2011 7:07:25 PM @drworm2002 If you were an honest citizen and happened to be pulled over and your next month's mortgage payment is in your car and the police confiscate your money , you could fight it and get compensation for damages and they fail to explain that they pull over speeders and the concept of probable cause |

Monday, May 23, 2011 11:54:53 AM @bullseye. That is bullpoo. First of all. Unless they have warrant...never give them permission to search. And there is not law that says you can't have $200,000 in your car. Just cause you have that much money it's no right to do that to people. I hate that argument, if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry. I just like to be left alone and don't want some d!ck bothering me. |

Monday, May 23, 2011 11:22:09 AM I hope this story has caused a Sh*tstorm in Tennessee. Two police forces competing with one another? Confiscated monies should not be going to specific police forces but into general state revenues so that all Tennesseans benefit. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 9:22:17 PM Yes, well, if it is drug money then there shoudl be a means of proving that, if not then it can't be assumed you've broken the law. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 8:16:10 PM seriously stupid argument by that guy... You can stop either one and it will do the same thing. Stop the drugs, and the providers stop getting the money. Stop the money, and the providers stop sending the drugs. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 7:16:32 PM Welcome to the future of America, where your Constitutional rights are ignored in order to 'uphold to law'. Everyday it seems the government is removing more of rights in order to make this country 'safer'. The use of fear and scare tactics has transformed our government from a once great home of the free, to a country that resembles the rulings of tyrant dictatorship. I for one would never allow any law official to violate my rights and would personally do my best to remove anyone from power who attempts to do so. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 6:19:21 PM Cops suck. They are jackasses. 1 out of 10,000 cops actually do their job. Ff they took anything out of my car like that I would put everything I have into making their lives hell. Those cops are just worried about getting money that isn't theirs, and they're letting drugs flow freely. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 4:23:42 PM This is nothing new. They've been doing this for years - and not just tennessee. When we put on our yearly conference, whenever we can, we bring the money to the bank in $9k chunks. It's that magic $10k rule - less than $10k and they can't slam you for it. It's also a lot safer from a theft standpoint. Here in Georgia, actually - if they take it from you it's going to take a lot more than "legal action" to get it back - in most cases, you might as well consider it gone. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 2:44:34 PM This crap is what you get when allow "free market" to dictate social civil law. The squashing of 'law & order' in favour of money. You can't tell me this isn't prime example of corruption. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 2:37:05 PM The only way to punish drug dealers is in the pocket. If you ask the people who are stopped where the money came from, they say they have no idea. If you ask if it's theirs they no, they have no idea where it came from. Each of the these people gave consent, had they said no they would have been allowed to continue on their way, or if the cops had pc they would have detained them further. I was a cop for 26 years, NEVER, give consent to search, it's just stupid, even if you have nothing to hide. Esepcially in a rental car!

Sunday, May 22, 2011 2:30:31 PM So basically the cops are now complicit in the drug trade thanks to this law? Just another gang with better uniforms I guess. |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 2:26:58 PM Another reason the constitution is just an oily rag in the USA. You people think you still have rights? Think again, and I'm not defending Canada either, last year's G20 summit in Toronto was a human rights disgrace |

Sunday, May 22, 2011 2:18:55 PM GODDAMNIT. What happened to the f^cking 4th amendment? If the governor does not do something about this, the president has to. And we all know how he feels about the constitution. |
