My guess is it's the pants. They are made of a hardened material so he is basically sitting down the entire time.

I'm from manchester and i've seen better there goddamit. Also there's a guy that sings a lot there- i know him, he's a dik, don't give him any money.
Best busker around there is this crazy old guy that dances, i think he's banned at the moment for taking his top off. Still he's hilarious.

@thjoass

It's clever and I haven't seen anyone else do it before. Knowing how it's done doesn't stop me from being entertained by it.

I was more excited that it was in Manchester than about the mime! :D

@the haters who figured out how he did this. Punch and Judy is just cloth puppets with a hand up their ass and that craps been a seaside favourite for decades. Its all about suspension of disbelief and ignoring the smoke and mirrors. Just enjoy the show and stop analysing.

That's not "cool". People do this all the time in every city. Whoever posted this must not travel much.

Once you know whats going on the majic just dissapears... that black thing under him is a blanket covering the platform's bottom on which he's sitting. He's sitting on his ass, tricking you into believing he's actually DOING something..and you PAY HIM FOR THAT? *sigh* Sounds too much like a political figure to me.

Definitely one of the coolest living statues I have ever seen but definitely not a mime. I have seen too many of both living in New Orleans to not be able tell the difference between the two.

@ggolbez - Perhaps he enjoys doing this more than working at a fast food place or sweeping floors. I give the guy credit for at least doing something instead of just holding a sign. In addition, and I'm not saying this is what is going on, there are many street performers working in Barcelona that are paying for university (and other things) this way.

You know what's better than a minute long video of someone doing nothing? A drating picture.

There's always this robot Elvis outside The Eaton's Centre in Toronto that I see whenever I got there. He's awesome.

It's better than most of the statue performers in Manchester, it usually just some Muslim guys in long white robes who stand on a stool so they look tall, and paint their faces white and give out lollipops, but they dont look like statues, they just look like tall Muslims with white faces.
