Friday, May 20, 2011 6:32:25 PM why does "extreme home makeover" always do over the top crap liek heated swimming pools and gigantic fireplaces anyways? wouldn't people benefit more from having something they can financially maintain and NEED rather than a bunch of bells and whistles? couldn't they put more money into houses for even MORE people if they didn't try to build mansions for everyone? this is why i hate the attitude of most of the people in this country, we want bigger, better, more, and we never stop to think about what we NEED. or what we DON'T NEED for that matter. we could all be very happy with less, but some will never understand... |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 10:41:43 PM From the report: "Terri, in her appeal to the show, said she suffers from combined immunodeficiency disease, as do her daughters, who had to wear masks to guard against the toxins coursing through the air of their rundown, mold-filled Las Vegas house." Mold in a house in Las Vegas!? WTF it's so dry there is no freaking way! That should have been the first clue to the bull crap. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 12:48:54 PM Yeah... uhm... these people are terrible, but at the same time Extreme Makeover should at least ask a doctor *just* to be sure. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 11:26:54 AM Anyone complaining about SCID (a very very serious disease, which generally shortens one's life dramatically) should raise the eyebrows of his doctor. Not only is it easily determined through a simple blood test, it is very commonly used by those who have have Munchausen/Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. But my guess is that this woman doesn't have MSbP...she's just a scam artist getting payment for the pains of those she's never met. Hopefully Extreme Makeover will start doing a little more due diligence before further exacerbating a very annoying problem for medical providers everywhere. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 10:27:00 AM Um... how exactly does a massive house help them - even if their medical problems were legit? There's freaking 3 of them! Why do they need a solar powered swimming pool if they allegedly suffer from an immune system disorder. Not only do I not give a f*ck about how some TV show got scammed by an old woman, this also makes fun of people in your country who genuinely have trouble paying for medical expenses. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 9:36:46 AM In regards to the people with mortgages, if you read the WSJ article, the homeowners took out two or three equity loans on their house to get more money. EM had nothing to do with the mortgages. Although the bigger houses did cost more in taxes and upkeep, something that most people probably don't think about. I watched EM the other day, and I think the show has run its course. It also looks like Ty is getting tired of doing them. I also agree with what others have said. They should build several smaller houses for several families instead of one lavish house for one family. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 9:20:17 AM the_phantom, if they are being treated for illnesses they don't have, you might as well be giving them poison. My cousin was a victim of something like this (given that I'm understanding this situation correctly) and his body was very damaged as a result. He's in his early 20s and doesn't have any of his real teeth any longer and his body didn't develop properly because he was given treatments that he didn't need. Giving medicine and other treatments to kids who don't need it is another form of child abuse. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 8:31:16 AM They are all back together, in las Vegas wtih their original team of doctors. They sold the house and that gave suspicions. ABC isn't even answering about the allegations - there are several holes in the story anyway. The parents have several hundred pages of blood tests and hospital records that the girls are sick. Lay of IAB. |

Thursday, May 19, 2011 8:10:27 AM What sounds so stupid is, After they got the big house, Why didn't she drop the whole medical scam in order to save the money needed to pay for the upkeep of the house ? If she really was scamming, Why choose losing the house over continuing to perpetuate the scam ? |
