You can say the same thing about any of the PC retailers. They always rape you on upgrades. Don't get me wrong I hate Apple, but I hate them because of all their proprietary interfaces and anti-piracy BS, not because they're selling the exact same hardware as everyone else for higher prices. |

Wow, thank you to all the PC advocates who surely educated us Mac users with all your name calling and insults on how wonderful life with a PC is. Perhaps one day we can return the favor and tell you what it is like to actually sleep with a real live woman! That is assuming you can stop installing the latest virus software, trying to find plug-ins and patches to actually make things work and finally putting down your Mountain Dews and crawl out of your parent's basement to see the light of day. Although the chances of that happening are unlikely, there is no doubt we will recognize your kind by the pale and oily skinned rage that bursts into flame in direct sunlight. We will take you under our collective wings and show you the outside world and perhaps the latest Apple product so you can go back to your basements and try to make a cheaper PC copy once again as is the norm... |

Well, if you're foolish enough to go online without any security and you install everything you can find without even checking what it is, then maybe you'll have those problems.
If you're not that foolish, you won't.
While having your choices restricted, your hardware limited and your updates less frequent does have some advantages, I think the drawbacks would outweigh the advantages even if you weren't paying double for it.
Also, everything you're referring to is about software, not hardware. You could just run MacOS on a standard PC and get exactly the same thing without paying the Apple fashion premium.

I have a Mac G4 Server (Yes, the proper server, just before the Xserve came out) and I got it for very simple reasons, and for a great price. I had gotten a chance to play with GarageBand on the POS g3 iMac I found in a shop for $13 and liked it. I liked that the dual 867MHz PPC G4 could run most of my programs without issue. And the case looks fantastic. Now, the price? I swapped my iPhone 3g for it. I used to get a week between battery charges (Airplane mode). after the iOS4 update? 1 day maybe. Planned obsolescence, like ALL apple products.
I like apple's aesthetics and their OS. I don't like their price, and more importantly, I LOATHE their business practices. This bit with replacing screws in peoples iPhone 4? not cool.

To really compare it, the poster should have done Apple vs HP with comparable (or the same) configs.
I support the general sentiment of this, though you can't help iFags anyway. Some people just love throwing away money, and apple somehow manages to catch it all. |

I guess no one here noticed that you can drating install Mac OSx on a PC with an intel processor by playing around with some settings, thus saving you money.
If you reallllllly want mac's os (cause face it, Looks != performance...it's the OS and hardware) just buy the damn software yourself. |

cheezus, almost sounds like windows fans here are bent on trying to convince people who are perfectly happy with their macs that they made a bad investment.
Sounds more like envy to me
I don't care if you want to spend hundreds on the letter 'i' because you're a fan of it. It's your money. I find it sad and a bit funny, but it's not my problem. Why on earth would I be envious of you? If I had more money than I wanted, for some weird reason, I would have bought the hardware I have and donated the "I have Apple products, look at me!" premium to charity. |
