Thursday, May 19, 2011 9:06:20 PM My brother's been burning wood for his heat in Nova Scotia since the late 80's when he got his own place. My brother's method is faster, no chain to dick with. He has a series of stumps each with a different size rubber tire bolted down, like ATV vehicle wheels and the like. He looks like he is standing in front of a drum kit and he just smashes away. At least double the output of this guy if he tried. That chain thing looks like a pain in the arse. |

Friday, May 13, 2011 5:46:18 PM Yeah. He had to be splitting something with straight grain. I haven't seen firewood for sale in the Northeast with a straight grain since I was a kid. Try that with a big ol' hunk a maple or oak. Something with a big, fat knot in it. |

Friday, May 13, 2011 2:31:00 PM That was so practical! If I didn't live in the city and had to chop my own wood, I would definitely keep that in mind! |

Friday, May 13, 2011 12:13:56 PM I was sort of hoping for crazy theatrics, like something involving an explosion or a moving vehicle, but this was just practical, smart, and efficient. Well done. |
