To say you should never employ corporal punishment with a child is short sighted...however the difference between punishment and child abuse is a fine line, and in my mind can be differentiated thusly.If you are spanking your child because they have done something way over the line like stabbing a kitten or smearing poop everywhere with no remorse and no other punishment works, that corporal punishment.If you are smacking your kid around cause you have had a bad day and they commit a minor transgression, that's abuse.Basically, if you hit your child while you are angry or upset, it boils down to you being a douche. If you don't hit your child when they are out of control and nothing else works, you are creating a sociopath. |

Not really crazy about the various attempts at humor here in the comment section.
Maybe watching a realistic PSA on child abuse put a downer on my ability to enjoy lame jokes. |

If that's the way you were brought up and you seem fine with that then ok for
you.
I was brought up by a bottle of alcohol...um..i mean my mother....and got plenty
of punches, bloodied noses, eyeglasses smashed, all because me breathing on this
earth was not in her plans. (But she did allways sober up for sunday church...ya
know...gotta keep up appearances....grrrrrr)...So mho is...no beating.

Self defense, war, terrorism etc...is a whole other ballgame. Someone, or a group
of people fight for their lives. But it still comes down to one thing, hurt, lots of

My dad had plenty of good reasons to beat me. I'm the recipient of the beatings so I'm the only good judge here, and I say I deserved every one of them and a few I didn't get caught on!
As for the second part "No Reason Beating Another Human Being"... so wrong - so wrong. Osama deserved a good ass whoopin {and a bullet}. I also think men who beat on women deserve to be smacked around like the bitches they are.
I'm sure I can think of other examples but you get my point. |
