Of course I feel bad for him because I always feel bad for the down and out, but I kind of don't feel bad for him because you know he got evicted for being a pain in the balls to the other tenants or whatever. |

I'm appalled by people to say "He got himself evicted, so screw him".
He smoked a cigarette in the hallway. The difference between you and him is, that he can't afford minor mishaps. What if you got kicked out of your home and was denied access to both jobs, and a place to live - just because you smoked a cigarette in the hallway.
People are so quick to judge. What have YOU done wrong? Nothing at all? If smoking a cigarette in the hallway qualifies for eviction, where would you be? In the gutter? |

I know a lady whose kids graduated high school. Her income dropped because her kids were now considered adults. Even though her daughter got a nice scholarship to college, She was forced out when her son got a DUI (He was still living at home). She couldn't find any section 8 housing that would take her after that. She had to move in with her daughter which is a much smaller apartment. She did nothing wrong, they screwed her over for what her son did, Just because her income and rent amount dropped. |

Gerry and others: What you don't realize is that most 'section 8' housing places will not even look at your housing application beyond the question that asks, "Have you ever been evicted ?", If you answer "Yes" they won't even accept your application. And they do background checks to confirm the truthfulness of the answer to that question, So if you lie and say "No" and are lying they will find out then reject your application on the basis that you lied.
If you get evicted from section 8 housing you are screwed, and I'm sure Tom here can't afford $800-1000 a month for rent + deposit.
Also, 'section 8' housing places have been known to be non-nice individuals toward people with low incomes. They can only charge people 1/3rd their income for rent, So they naturally try to get rid of the low income people (Many times on trumped up charges) to get higher income tenants and more money. |

You violated the terms of your lease and want people to feel sorry for you because you got evicted? Sorry but I'm not buying it, dude. A lease is a legally binding contract. You feel bad because you took someone's bed at a homeless shelter? You should feel bad, because some people are homeless for reasons beyond their control. You are not one of them. Go drat yourself. |
