Well, I'll tell you this:
In terms of punishment, I learned to sleep while standing in time out. "Stern talking too"s bored the hell out of me. Taking away my toys and video games just pissed me off.
A good ass-whooping made me stop being a little punk and grow up respectable.
The problem with the world is that no seems to understand the value of a controlled, well placed, well timed smack.
Cops, for some strange reason, tend to over-use the power. Parents, for some reason now-a-days, don't use it at all (SEE: Not wanting to be parents).
So what do we have? A generation of pampered little pussies kept in line by meat-head cops corrupted by power. |

Completely unnecessary, he didn't have to run up to her and tackle her, she was just walking away.
She was reaching into her jacket and taking out something concealed there.
Imagine that you've had a call to deal with someone drugged up who has assaulted someone else.
You arrive to find that person, who you have been told is drugged up (and therefore unpredictable and prone to impulsive and thoughtless behaviour) and fresh from committing an assault.
You tell them to stop. They ignore you. So you have to run after them.
You also know that you're in a place where quite a few people carry guns.
The person (remember - highly unpredictable, impulsive and freshly wound up from committing an assault) reaches for something concealed under their clothing where they can easily pull it out.
You have a fraction of a second to decide. How long do you take to reach them? How quickly do you subdue them?

In the officers defense he might have thought she was going for a weapon when she reached into the top of her shirt and started to turn towards him.. He will probably get his job back because of that. As an officer you can't be too careful, doesn't matter who your dealing with. |

seems a pretty clear cut case of police abuse to me.
and why was her mother trying to restrain her on the ground? they should have arrested her for child abuse. there is obviously a lot going on in that household that needs attention. |
