very entertaining.
When cat piss is detected wash quickly with bleach or heavy perfumed cleaning product, it usually stops other cats to mark on it. |

I do something similar to fat chicks at the bar. Mostly involving a lot of yelling and excessive consumption of beer. |

I used to work for a guy that had that community yard. One day, he was running very late for work, and he was stepping into his car, when one of the "offending" cats ran at him, sprayed him, and ran off. Even though he was really late, after showering and changing all his clothes, he still reeked. I can't help but think it was some kind of feline fraternity hazing. |

vv Yes, as a self-proclaimed cat expert, I know lots about this.
Cats (wild or domestic) have different kinds of territory - basicly 'mine' and community. The local cats in the video have decided that this guy's yard is the local community place to advertise their presence. Just like dogs.
"fixed" cats might do this too, but it doesn't smell nearly as bad! Mostly if you fix your kitty they won't spray.
So @Musuko42 is correct: it's just bad luck that they chose his yard. Hopefully after a week or so of getting hosed they'll go someplace else! The trouble is that they have excellent smell, nearly as good as dogs, and even a trace of 'scent marking' will make them want to spray there too. |

I wonder what it is with these cats that made them do this. I have a cat, and I see a dozen or so cats around my neighbourhood (outdoor cats are the norm here), and I have never once seen any pee splashes anywhere on my driveway, walls, fencing, motorcycle, bins, anywhere.
Personal experience means little, I know I know, but I know cats *do* hang out on my property; they sit on my motorcycle seat (I find hairs and pawprints), and eat the grass poking out from between the driveway slabs (oh alright, it's weeds). But never any pee or other "deposits".
Maybe cats pick a particular gathering space and stick to it? My guess here is that all the local cats use the patch of waste land behind a line of garages around the corner, if that is the case. Maybe this guy has been unlucky and the cats have, for whatever reason, picked his property?
I do like his solution. Very inventive, and hopefully effective. |
